  1. that seat looks fantastic! some great work going on at 10 total posts, the classifieds will open up to you.
  2. heat around the shifter is common and likely comes from the engine heat, not the trans. Usually a noticeable amount of heat means the inner boot has come apart. great to see the truck is up and running!
  3. I still shudder at the thought of a non-rusty MJ in the salt. but what must be done, must be done. I always suggest a set of snow tires.

    Tesla's new truck

my guess is that it's ugly on purpose to attract free publicity.
  5. so much cool engineering and testing went into it I kinda want one just to have it. too bad I have neither the money nor an AAM axle.
  6. ya gotta get a hold of Brandon
  7. #3 has finally been uploaded!
  8. hey, what are you doing for heating when it's done? wood? propane?
  9. the pilot bushings are the same as XJs of the same year. I've got a 00 TJ AX-15 in my 88 with the stock TJ clocking and the TJ shifter. I used the CJ 304 pilot bushing. Don't forget that you'll want the XJ/MJ AX-15 trans crossmember.

    Recovery gear

for snow recovery of street driven rigs, as long as it doesn't have the hooks-of-death on it, you'll be good. If 10k isn't enough strap, you really should be calling a tow truck anyway. the real problem is cars/trucks that don't have any strong tow points.
  11. dang. I'm on the hunt for flares that are "aged" but don't need painting. if I painted them, they would look waaaaay different than the rest of the truck's patina.
  12. I don't know shops in your area, but there are several v8 swap build threads in the Epic Tech forum if you want to peruse what others have done.
  13. in what condition are the flares?
  14. one more post and the classifieds will open up to you.
  15. when you have to trade in the JK, but don't want to give up any of the cool stuff you bought for it.

    I'm back!

you don't have to do the whole conversion at once. I'm running an open rad (with rad cap) with the closed system.
  17. If you can find my thread about my '90, you should find pics of what I nipped off the arms. not because I needed to, but because I wanted to for that theoretical maximum flex I never needed. I'm not the only one that's done the conversion and I'm not sure I've heard of anyone else trimming them like I've done. you should be just fine.
  18. I had 3.92 gears in my Dakota RT and happily traded any potential issues at highway speeds for the insane grunt at low speeds. torque is fun and more is better
  19. what do you mean by "substantial cutting and grinding"?
  20. are you simply missing the openings for the clamps? you can drill those out yourself with a big hole saw.
  21. yup. what I'm saying is, don't pick numbers that you think are some sort of "limit". your Jeep has no problem hitting them allllllll day long.
  22. dates and time and whatnot are all overrated.
  23. I think red is the constant power wire. tan would be the switched power.
