  1. so your hazards do in fact work? did you change the correct flasher pot?
  2. There was a time I was into HO stuff, but this is more my style these days. bought a couple AA powered locomotives (sure wish I had those when I was a kid!) and I get to set up and re-imagine all sorts of different layouts with my nephews. this is the end loop of a track we ran clear to the other side of the house (nearly 100 ft of track). yes I frequent garage sales
  3. everything that's MJ-specific and/or an original part is a highly coveted item and extremely hard to find.

    Tesla's new truck

I would believe that there are 200k people in this world that would plunk down a C-note for a chance to have the brand-new-next-newest-latest thing. doesn't really matter what it is.
  5. if you can afford it, there is literally no reason I can think of to not do a military wrap.
  6. looks like you've found yourself a couple solid projects there congrats!
  7. I have great fear that at any moment this might suddenly cost waaaay more than I'm able to give it. But until then we'll soldier on as best we can.
  8. yeah, the CRD engines have a long list of "while you're in there..." items. we had the water pump done with the first timing belt change. getting close to needing a 3rd belt though.
  9. ummm... not sure what the overall plan is with this one...
  10. have you gotten to drive on snow tires yet? my old minivan (the only thing I've been able to put snow tires on) DOMINATED the white stuff and was an absolute joy to drive no matter how nasty the weather. (I don't have a minivan GIF so you'll have to pretend that's a silver Town-n-Country ) just be sure to wash out your rockers (there's a tiny access hole near the back), frame, doors, and above the rear tires inside the bed. Our trucks rot from the inside-out and flushing them out will go a long way towards preventing the rust from starting.
  11. indeed it is got my first transmission code today. yay. low input voltage to the TCU or some such thing. I'll look it up tomorrow.
  12. that seat looks fantastic! some great work going on at 10 total posts, the classifieds will open up to you.
  13. heat around the shifter is common and likely comes from the engine heat, not the trans. Usually a noticeable amount of heat means the inner boot has come apart. great to see the truck is up and running!
  14. I still shudder at the thought of a non-rusty MJ in the salt. but what must be done, must be done. I always suggest a set of snow tires.

    Tesla's new truck

my guess is that it's ugly on purpose to attract free publicity.
  16. so much cool engineering and testing went into it I kinda want one just to have it. too bad I have neither the money nor an AAM axle.
  17. ya gotta get a hold of Brandon
  18. #3 has finally been uploaded!
  19. hey, what are you doing for heating when it's done? wood? propane?
  20. the pilot bushings are the same as XJs of the same year. I've got a 00 TJ AX-15 in my 88 with the stock TJ clocking and the TJ shifter. I used the CJ 304 pilot bushing. Don't forget that you'll want the XJ/MJ AX-15 trans crossmember.

    Recovery gear

for snow recovery of street driven rigs, as long as it doesn't have the hooks-of-death on it, you'll be good. If 10k isn't enough strap, you really should be calling a tow truck anyway. the real problem is cars/trucks that don't have any strong tow points.
  22. dang. I'm on the hunt for flares that are "aged" but don't need painting. if I painted them, they would look waaaaay different than the rest of the truck's patina.
  23. I don't know shops in your area, but there are several v8 swap build threads in the Epic Tech forum if you want to peruse what others have done.
