  1. if you were looking to sell stuff, I would have thought you'd have posted something for sale.
  2. took it into town today. drives much better but I think I'm going to do one more round on toe-out. and I'm getting a bang noise from the upper arm pass side. I can shake it slightly with my hand. So tomorrow I'll pull it apart yet again and see if I can't find the issue. yay.
  3. yeah, that truck has definitely been driven in the salt.
  4. saw a blue one right up the street from me last week! made my day.
  5. I was looking at that earlier. it's... nice, but not quite as nice as you might think from skimming the photos. ya gotta pull up the fullsize images. the re-clearcoat wasn't done all that well, the underside has some rusty stuff going on (and very minimal pics of said underside), the tie-rods were replaced for "some reason" and it's got some dents here and there. I don't doubt they think it's worth more, but at best I'd go 5-6k on it.

I guess it's possible that the XJ sold so well they didn't feel the need to pimp it with merch?

    nice!
  8. look into the ubolt conversion. well worth it.
  9. I imagine the easiest way to address that is just to get a new yoke. otherwise, I would drill the sucker out and install U-bolts intsead of the straps. In fact, I'd probably do that either way.
  10. solved! doesn't much matter how ya got there as long as success is at the finish line.
  11. that is an amazing survivor! car show season is coming up
  12. part of me assumed it was a cracked lens but that... is most definitely... broken.
  13. There is another version out there that is clear when looking from behind, but the plastic obscures it if looking from an angle. so any cop right bhind you can see it, but anything from the side of the road cannot (i.e. the auto-cameras that all cop cars have these days).
  14. SOLVED!! I asked a KJ group and it's an amp associated with the door speakers. I shall now go and rename the image so as to not go through this again in a couple weeks.
  15. I don't spend much time online with Dakota things. Mostly MJ and KJ and it's not something I remember seeing in either Jeep. but it still could be KJ. I haven't dived into every single nook and cranny just yet.
  16. I literally just jacked up the front tires (as close to the tire as I could get the 2 jacks) 'til they were juuuuust off the ground, set the steering wheel to straight, and eyeballed the outer edges of the rear tires and then compared to the fronts. drivers side was just a hint of tow, pass side had a lot of toe. I tweaked it until it matched the drivers side. took it for a test drive and all felt fine. pulled back in to the drive and kept the wheel straight as I stopped. got out and eyeballed again and it looked same as before (this is important since jacking up from the lower arms tweaks the camber for sure and maybe the toe too). both tires have a hint of toe. Before I head north later this weak I might break out a tape measure. if it stops raining I can maybe snap a pic for ya.

  18. what you see is what I have. random picture that I've had on the desktop hoping that I'd remember why it was there. welcome to my world.
  19. I've pushed the toe out on the pass side and now the steering wheel is correct and it tracks in a straight line. let's here it for life's little victories.
  20. if you're talking about putting the wrangler stuff into the MJ, yes, the wrangler t-case will be clocked up a bit, but no you won't have to redrill if you don't want to. I've got a wrangler AX15/231 in mine and it cleared barely but it cleared and now I get the benefit of extra ground clearance. a few guys needed to hit the floorboards with a big hammer, but even then it's nothing crazy. you will want to source yourself an XJ/MJ AX-15 crossmember and shifter plus shifter tower. I've got the TJ shifter in mine and it's doable, but the bends put it right up at the dash in 1st/3rd.
  21. gotta have patience the right one is out there. It just might not be for sale just yet. springtime is house sellin' time (I've been told)
