  1. Why not a pine cone or ball filigree on the verticals? Would finish it off nicely.
  2. MJs and XJs. All had a "Max Cooling" radiator option. Of course they changed in 1991 when they went from a closed to open cooling system.
  3. Got a part number for that? AIRTEX P/N 1P1190
  4. Check the headlamp switch connector first. Probably a fried terminal. Common. Aftermarket replacements available.
  5. Welcome. Every time I see the NH state motto I think of the immortal George Carlin.
  6. They still sell the panel top moldings new at several places if all else fails: http://www.eadoffroad.com/omix-ada-s-5dd66ms1-s-5dd67ms1-jeep-xj-84-96-wood-grain-door-trim-gray-front-%28lh-or-rh%29
  7. Dash brake warning light causes: 1. parking brakes are applied 2. very low pedal 3. low fluid level 4. excessively worn brake lining 5. there's a pressure differential between the front/rear hydraulic systems
  8. Yep, she needs some intensive love but looks like a solid airframe.
  9. Ah, okay. Got my private on a C150 overseas many years ago, never had the pleasure of flying the 172. Good luck restoring the vintage Cub. Post up some pics if you can.
  10. That's too damn hot for an HO mate IF the gauge is accurate. That's about where my stroker temp ran during break-in. Since then the needle has stayed vertical except in 90+ degree days when stuck in traffic. What were the conditions when you took the pic?
  11. What's so funny about reading an aircraft registration number? :hmm:
  12. I'd add axle bearings and seals while you are in there.
  13. Weather permitting of course.
  14. She must be a real dumba$$.
  15. Also tighten your steering gear box bolts.
  16. My 91 is at a very slight angle too. And it's not cross-threaded. no leaks - no worries.
  17. The split hose probably sprayed slick coolant on the serp belt and caused slippage at the harmonic balancer. Engine trying to rev, belt slipping badly = backfire.
  18. Best fix? Install power windows.
  19. Call Jack at Unichip North America (Hillsboro, OR) @ 1-866-UNICHIP. For your 91, you will need the Unichip "Q" module. It's the hardwired version; there's no PnP Unichip for the Jeep I6 4.0L OBD1 (or OBD2 engine AFAIK). It's pretty easy to wire it into the ECU harness. He can also help you with a tuner in your local AO.
  20. To add to that, ccw rotation of the water pump and fan clutch (looking from the front) = reverse rotation; cw rotation = standard rotation.
  21. An 86 4-banger from Ohio with a paint job. $20K. Bet a magnet wouldn't stick to it either. :rotfl2:
  22. Unlike the full gauge blue Renix cluster cases, the white full gauge 91 and up cluster cases do not have the shift indicator mounting bosses. So there is no way to mount the indicator w/o using the HO idiot light cluster. If I could get my hands on one of these HO idiot light clusters that had column shift, I could modify it to full gauges by changing out the back foil. If that makes any sense.
  23. Fred, the voltmeter, temperature, and oil pressure gauges are interchangeable in the clusters throughout the years. The face colors may vary, but these gauges will all operate. The tachometer, speedometer, and fuel gauges are Renix or HO specific. You can easily check the voltmeter by removing it and applying battery voltage across the + and - gauge terminals. It the gauge deflects properly, then you have a wiring problem to trace out.
  24. I heard that ABBA was one of the major funders during the construction of Yangtorp. What a total waste. Is it completely closed down now?
  25. What guy? :hmm:
