  1. I have a bad transfer case that doesn’t work in 4 high and slips in 4 low. I plan on putting a new one in and was gonna go to the junkyard to get the same one which is 231 j. When I got get a new one would I have to make sure the splines are the same for the drive shaft I have or could I just throw it in it and ride? Also any recommendations on what to do and what not to do when changing it?
  2. Hey All, Picked up my 6th Comanche this weekend. This one is an 86 2.5l, manual trans (unsure if 4 or 5 speed - disassembled at the moment). Floors are gone, but the rest is mostly rust free. I'd love to save it and put it back on the road, but the PO decided to start taking things apart before it was abandoned, and a lot of it is now missing. Also no title, so this one will most likely be a parts donor and the bed will become my new trailer. This truck does have D30/35 combo with 4.10 gears, which brings me to the question in the title. 4. I HAVE A FORD 8.8 3.55 DISC BRAKES IN THE BACK. I'm LOOKING TO START ON THE FRONT ANY SIGGESTIONS ON A GOOD AXLE?
  5. I hopefully will be getting my Jeep back this sometime in the next day or so. I have read on several forums how to break in new gears, just want to triple check. This is what i have gathered: The first several trips must not be longer than 20 min. After the first several trips the diff must cool down for at least 45 min. No heavy acceleration Vary speed (if possible) Change diff oil after first 500 miles No towing during the first 1,000 miles After towing for the first time let the diff cool down for 45 min. Anything i missed or should add? Thanks,
  6. I am about to order parts to regear my Dana 44, I have a mechanic who is going to do the install for about $250, i just need the parts the D44 is getting an open carrier because i bought an Aussie locker a several months back.. i want to use it... and i think the hole for the cross shaft roll pin was damaged causing the roll pin to come out and destroy my diff.... before i place an order does everything look correct. do i need to add anything? Dana 44 P/N - from rockauto.com USA20115 - $87.79 - Standard Open Carrier Case spline, 3.73 & down, bare. This case includes carri
