  1. Do what they say and quit complaining. Of course if this happens to me later on I'll be complaining worse than you. : /
  2. Your drive shaft is too short. It either needs to be lengthened by a shop for more slip yoke spline engagement, or you can replace the slip yoke with a longer GM yoke. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-Turbo-350-Extra-Long-Racing-Slip-Yoke-700R4-7-5-1310-Style-Precision-369-/251547475996?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a9165e01c&vxp=mtr
  3. Autometer 15211 (single gauge) and 15210 (double gauge) fit great on the 96 and below.
  4. Condolences on your good-looking Olds mate, and glad you are okay. Hope it's fixable - looks very possible. And hopefully the little twerp that rear-ended you is walking now, not driving.
  5. Always pin to pin when eliminating a harness connector to maintain continuity. Wire color has nothing to do with it. When splicing a connector into a harness, then maintain wire color to wire color through the connector.
  6. Jesus, what a kludge system. :shake: For those who don't know the definition of kludge:
  7. On my 91, the valve opens by turning it clockwise, just the opposite of most valves.
  8. Usually when the blower resistor fails it defaults to the HI speed. IF the blower motor itself is good. Pull the motor and do a bench test of the motor with a 12V source (or hot wire it) to see if the motor is functioning.
  9. Start by performing the pertinent topics in the link below since it's been setting for years. http://comancheclub.com/topic/36382-cruisers-renix-tips/ Also you would be wise to invest in a set of Factory Service Manuals for your model year so you can troubleshoot intelligently.
  10. Used to fish in that area quite a bit at Lake Drummond when I lived up there. Getting to the lake via the canal and locks was half the fun. Monster black crappie in that lake.
  11. Sure the casting number isn't 3239448? That number shows up in the below, 1983-88: Jeep Block Casting Numbers Source page for the data in this table MAKE AND YEAR C.I.D. LITRE BORE CYL. 12. Same size? Looks like the 23.5 is 36 1/2 in. x 17 1/4 in. x 13 5/8 in.
  13. I ran the Addco 1-1/8" front sway bar on my MJ for awhile - didn't like it at all, way too stiff. I traded it in for a factory XJ 1-1/8" front, and it was perfect, not nearly as rigid. As for the rear, I originally fitted a stock 9/16" WJ bar on. It was much better than it was w/o a rear sway bar, but I thought it could be better. Found a good deal on a 7/8" Addco rear WJ bar, and swapped it in. It now rides great and remains flat turning at speed w/o any wheel hop. Different animals the MJ and XJ are I know, but these two bars seem to compliment each other for excellent handling and good under vs. over steer characteristics. I think the rear Addco 7/8" bar with the factory 1-1/8" front bar combo will be great on the XJ too. Go for it matey.
  14. It should swap over okay, but it may not indicate correctly. As in below, there were four different fuel gauge sending units used in the longbeds with the difference being the depth and travel of the float arm. So how accurate it will indicate is unknown until you try it. SENDING UNIT, Fuel *** 52003671, w/16 Gal. Tank - Carbureted Eng. - 7 Ft. Box - 1988 52003644, w/18 Gal. Tank - Carbureted Eng. - 7 Ft. 15. You might have compressed them down too much when you installed the poly bushings. I usually just snug them down just enough to start them spreading, then use double nuts at the top end link stubs. They for last years doing it this way. What means "offset mounting hole at the top"? :hmm:
  16. You have voltage at the pump and the pump doesn't run probably because you checked voltage using a chassis ground point instead of the ground wire under the left tail lamp. Agree - test for ground under the tail lamp and at the pump connector.
  17. Memorial Day, celebrated every year on the last Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day. It originated after the US Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. To honor the dead, citizens would "decorate" the graves in military cemeteries with flowers, primarily poppies. By the 20th century, Decoration Day was changed to Memorial Day and had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service. But the original meaning and purpose for Memorial day, as well as for most other national holidays, has been lost over the years to most Americans due to media and corporate greed. Memorial Day has become the benchmark for "the beginning of summer", and as such is celebrated by a long nauseating weekend of gigantic retail sales across the country. Such is life now............... :shake:
  18. She's a very tough lady Fred. Was her mobility pretty good before the accident at church today?
  19. Huh? Please explain how you determined the camber before the lift.
  20. Dane p/n's all in this .pdf. Super D44 4.10 gears. http://www.tomsdifferentials.com/2011catalog/Pages89-94.pdf
  21. Your sway bar look like the below? If so, then it's an Addco.
  22. ^^ Good advice. I picked up one a few years ago from a 96 ZJ w. 80K on it. The gear box itself was clean and dry. Installed it and it was tight with no play but had slight weeping at the output shaft at first. Tried some Lucas 10008 power steering stop leak and after about 100 miles or so the weeping stopped with no ill effects. It's still clean and dry after 2+ years. Guess I was lucky.
  23. Ah, okay. just looked up the RE1600 install instructions. It's clear now, it uses a Heim, but requires drilling out the bracket it looks like. Thanks.
  24. What means "double sheer" pertaining to a track bar? :hmm: I'm using the Teraflex bar because you can adjust it like a drag link w/o removing an end .
