Have had several of them over the years, and my favorite was the 1100 Sport. Great car on the ice with studded front tires. You gotta love the horrible Lucas electricals. You either get smart on fixing circuits, or you don't drive them for long.

Welcome aboard. Regarding your cable sets, you might want to post details in the Classified / Vendors fourm. Pics and prices would be good too if possible.

The P/C switch applies a ground signal to TCU pin C11 in the POWER position. I haven't traced it out any further since I hard-wired that switch permanently to the POWER position a long time ago.

New Ignition Switch Causes Jeep To Not Start
HOrnbrod replied to Master7122's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The ignition switches are different for the tilt and non-tilt columns. What column did you have and what's the p/n of the switch you used? -
MJ running rough, erratic idle, lacking power
HOrnbrod replied to acerocknroll's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Try pulling the TPS and IAC sensors off the throttle body and give them along with the throttle body intake tube.a thorough bath and cleaning with throttle body cleaner. Pay particular attention to the TPS pintle valve. http://www.frontrange4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?18931-XJ-Cherokee-IAC-TPS-and-Throttle-Body-Cleaning -

MJ running rough, erratic idle, lacking power
HOrnbrod replied to acerocknroll's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Normal codes, whatever the problem is didn't show up. Fuel pressure next................ -
Most all of the HO sensors use a 5VDC reference voltage. This voltage is generated by the ECU and the tolerance is tight. One thing you should try is disconnect the 60-pin connector from the ecu and check for recessed pins, then clean both sides up carefully with a good electrical contact cleaner. Do not use dielectric grease when reconnecting. This usually brings the sensor 5V reference voltage back up to specs by cleaning up any corrosion (resistance) from the pins.

Anyone know why AMC switched to the D44 in 1987 for the optional HD axle instead of carrying on with the AMC-20 they used in 86? It was/is a damn good axle and AMC wasn't dying yet. :hmm: My guess would be manufacturing costs but I have no idea....

Sway bar links - different lengths?
HOrnbrod replied to schardein's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Maybe the Chrysler engineers finally realized they could achieve the most suspension travel and flex possible w/o binding at a ~10*-15* angle above horizontal and modified the links accordingly. My guess..... -

How to find out which model I have
HOrnbrod replied to Manche757's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's not a Renix - that's a big plus - you can still get parts for it. W/o comprehensive pics we're just guessing. Invest in a Carfax report. It's worth the $$ for peace of mind. -
Looks like your happy out there Ben. That's a good thing. Miss MN at all?
