  1. Yep, rustproofing at this late date is $$ down the drain. Obviously the PO(s) of this rig have taken super care of it over the years and it has never seen snow, ice, or salt except from the inside looking out. It's your truck of course and you can do whatever you want, but this jewel needs to be parked when the snow flies. Pick up a winter beater (like an XJ) and enjoy the MJ for another twenty-odd years. MJ's in this condition are rare animals.
  2. Yes it does. That's how you clear any flooded fuel injected engine. Carburetted engines too.
  3. Did you use Moog ball joints?
  4. I never run my A/C until the temp gets to 85* or so either. On a rare longer trip I might run it for hours. It's an untouched factory system and it's only maintenance has been to top off the coolant. I've never heard the compressor cycle and it's never frozen up. So I'd say forget about the sensor.
  5. The main theme of the video is John Denver's song "Country Roads" yet I didn't see him in it. His version was the first and best to me. But overall, I enjoyed it. Thanks for posting.
  6. Nothing's worse than Dorman. I only use their stuff when there is no other option I can find. Like their crappy windshield wiper bushings.
  7. The capillary tube is missing on your replacement evap core. It has something to do with factory and dealer installed A/C. I haven't done it but read a few write-ups on the subject where you find the correct evaporator with the tube or install the tube yourself. Here's one thread to help your search get started: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/jeep-cherokee-pre-1997-evaporator-coil-replacement-write-up-1232416/index4.html
  8. I have tried removing the bleeder screws and even the disconnected the brake line itself from the caliper to see if it will gravity bleed itself but still nothing I also have disk brakes in the rear also and my rear calipers wouldn't gravity bleed either. But when I removed the bleed screw from the RR caliper and pushed the brake pedal, brake fluid shot out. After I did that then reconnected I was able to bleed them normally with wifey pushing the pedal. Try it to make sure your brake lines going aft are not restricted.
  9. Cool. I didn't know Omix was selling their junk in auto parts chain stores now.
  10. Unfortunately no, it's entirely different.
  11. Nope, they are NLA (no longer available) from all the normal sources. Very rarely you see a listing on Ebay for some NOS manual regulators some Jeep parts hoarder will list. It's not that hard to convert to power window regulators, and they are still plentiful.
  12. Most definitely, as does Lowes, Ace hardware, etc. If you can find ones that fit in the hole and have the right thread, they will be a lot cheaper too.
  13. Yeah, everything's easier now. But I remember back in the day..............
  14. There were no autos on the Sunoco tankers in the 70's. :( My left leg was three times the size of my right. Was hard finding pants that fit. I said screw this and went back in the Navy........
  15. Have you tried removing the rear bleed screws and making sure their passages are open and clear? I've had them clog up completely with junk so no fluid could pass by just cracking them open.
  16. Try running a fully loaded Mack fuel tanker with 20 forward speeds around winding narrow city streets for a couple of years. You won't love it for long. Worst job I ever had. Never again do I want to shift manually...............
  17. I'm sorry if I didn't explain my situation properly..but to answer ur question yes xj valve is up front and necessary plumbing done correctly.. Exactly as Eagle stated above. I asked that previously, and the OP's reply is highlighted. So I ASSumed this was done. Maybe not..........
  18. Pretty sure THESE are what you need. They are called a Well nuts, p/n 34201348. The dealer might possibly have them too.
  19. You know I don't think there's been a good writeup with pics and p/n's on removing the load sensing valve procedure. Try to document everything and then we can put it into the DIY forum to help others.
  20. I'm interested. Show me an auto parts store that carries these.
  21. HERE. Take your pick..........
  22. The load sensing valve was removed by whom? If by you, did you also swap in the XJ proportioning valve up front and do the plumbing required for the rear brakes w/o the LS valve?
  23. You're right, I did read it wrong.
  24. That's the highest bid ever I can recall for a stock MJ, and still didn't sell (as far as we know). Good sign, our trucks are increasing in value. The build sheet shows it's a 2.5L engine w. 5-speed, but it's not.
  25. Good writeup here: http://comancheclub.com/topic/30325-complete-brake-overhaul/
