92 Comanche On Ebay
yellaheep replied to kawaboy13's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item2579874595 Listing ended on the 15th. Highest bid was $1,375. Had been listed once before (ended Jan 7th) and the bid got to $1,625. He shoulda grabbed that $1,625 bid. Its barely worth that money given the high miles (258K), it's 2wd, and overall condition. -

85 Diesel Tow Jeep San Diego
yellaheep replied to MJRemi's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Jeezus.......... $4800???? -
Dood....... it's got speed graphics and a roof rack! Come awn! :D Actually out here in Colorado, a clean late model, low mileage, 4x4 4.0 auto XJ is worth twice that. That's easily a $6-7K Cherokee in Colorado. $3k is a bargain and if it were worth it, I'd snatch it up and flip it out here.
-
If it were me........ I get rid of both the '86 MJ and the '96 XJ and throw all that effort into a later model MJ...... which I'd imagine you have several of..... :D The '96 swap into the MJ is going to reveal all kinds of headaches.... -Different firewall lay out - which means the harness bulkheads mount differently between the two versions. You'll have to do some sheet metal mods. -Gas tank/fuel system differences.... yeah, that tank modification could be kinda troublesome. I know that the 4cyl to 6 cyl swap going from an '88 to '96 was a head scratcher and required a new tank without baffles to accomodate the '96 pump and fuel level sensor. -Using the full wiring harnesses (engine compartment and cabin) will be necessary....... getting the fuel system and tail lights wired up is gonna take some thinkin' time and energy.

24K Original 1992 Mj!
yellaheep replied to Automan2164's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Pretty rough for the money. Looks like they played demo derby with the back of it....... Probably not that rusty for a Wisconsin MJ...... pretty rusty though. Gotta wonder about a dealership that thinks that's a long bed, calls that paint color "slate" and the interior color "beige". Still....... it's a rare '92. -
Bucky's getting painted huh? Man....... I'm gonna be even more jealous. Glad you're enjoying that truck Bob! I'll look forward to seeing it painted with all those goodies bolted back on.

Not likely. All it takes is one personal injury lawsuit. Segway is struggling financially. Been sued countless times. The Segway inventor got killed using his own product fer cryin' out loud. Do a google search using "Personal transportation vehicles" and look at all the similar inventions that never took off........

If you've got bucket seats.......... Leave the door unlocked. Get another lower seat cushion that matches. Then go to the drug store and get a pack of hypodermic syringes. Remove needles from the syringes. Disassemble seat cushion from metal base. Insert needles into the bottom of the seat foam all along the lowest/center part. Re-assemble the seat cushion. Without bolting the cushion assembly back to the seat frame, you've just made yourself one wicked booby-trap for any would-be thief or tampering crook. Put smaller, shorter bolts in place of the others to work as placement pins to keep the seat cushion from moving around when you need to drive it. Just be sure to keep the good cushion in the house with your keys so you don't forget when the booby-trap is set..... Just think of the satisfaction of being awakened from a peaceful sleep by the blood-curdling screams of some asshat that entered your truck....... and now has his rectal seal perforated.  You could also get another hood release cable assembly. Glue some thumbtacks to the back side of the release handle....... You'd just need to keep a sturdy length of rope with a loop on one end to put around the handle so you can pull it open when you need to. I'm all in favor of making crooks bleed. Makes them easy to identify. If it is indeed your neighbors, you'll be looking for the one that doesn't sit on the porch..... or has bandaged up fingers. "Hello, Hospital? Yeah, can you tell me if you had anyone come to the E.R. who's keester looked like it'd been worked over by an angry woodpecker?" :D

Nice Little 1990 In Virginia On Ebay
yellaheep replied to starkizer's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Can't believe they got $3,050 for that. Congrats to them........ I wouldn't pay that much for 3 similar trucks. That rust is nasty. At least they coulda put new shocks on it and replace that rusty donut with a full size clean spare to draw the eye away from the crusty crap. I'm betting that spare won't even come down/off. The outside of that bed around the flares has gotta be full of bondo......... -
Need Emissions Mechanic In Denver, Co
yellaheep replied to cicelyak's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Paradise....... Um....... it's an '86 MJ. Won't have a 4.0L........ they had either a 2.5L 4 cyl or 2.8L V6. While good info, it won't pertain necessarily to his truck. Lets also not forget that a bad catalytic converter can cause an otherwise good running truck to fail emissions. Those 2.8's are a nightmare where emissions are concerned. If it failed by just a few points on CO emissions, put a bottle of denatured alcohol into the gas tank with about half a tank of fuel. Take it back for a re-test. It works wonders. If it failed for high NOx, it's generally the catalytic converter breaking down. I've had 3 jeeps fail for high NOx and tried lots of the usual tricks....... but it always required that the cat converter be replaced to pass. I have a buddy that does quality mechanic work on the side and has lots of Jeep experience who could look at it for ya. He's in the area of Yosemite and Hampden in east Denver. PM me and I can put you in touch with him. -
Why such a long winded story and no real answer????? Will Archer sell any of those parts? What's the scoop?
-
Signed.

I'm dying to know what you paid for it........ This is just awesome. A D60 huh? Very cool..... Dunno if you saw my post in the "Dually?" thread where I made some phone calls to the companies that made those camper bodies...... None had any record of having used a Comanche platform. I'm REALLY hoping the documents you got with it will shed some light on its build and if that info could be used to make some contacts to possibly get some production numbers...... That thing could very well be a 1 of 1........ But at the worst, it's not likely to have very many siblings........ Jonesin' for details......:D

........ and with a whole lot less weight involved too.

Mj Cab And Chassis Motorhome $5500
yellaheep replied to expeditionnw's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
That's the same RV that we talked about in this thread: http://comancheclub.com/topic/33068-dually/page__hl__motorhome?do=findComment&comment=333544 I'd love to own it too. But I'd need to drop a chevy LS engine and trans in it or maybe a Grand Cherokee 5.2 or Durango 5.9 in it........ that thing has to be a DOG on the highway. Can't imagine trying to drive over the rockies in it........ $5500 sure seems pretty high priced too. I'd have to jump if it could be bought in the $2K range. -
Did I Get The Correct Hitch?
yellaheep replied to phenryiv1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Dammit! You mean to tell me there's a difference between long bed and short bed hitches?!?!?!? I just picked up two hitches..... One from a long bed, one from a short bed. Sold the one from the short bed and kept the one from the long bed for my short bed MJ....... I swear when the two hitches were side by side in y truck they were identical........- 21 replies

Custom 55 Willys Dually Truck - Beautiful
yellaheep replied to HOrnbrod's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
I just messed myself............ That's incredible. Someone REALLY spent some time on detail. Unfortunately, the bed is completely useless.......... I'd have built it to be able to use it. -
Cuz the one I sold you isn't an Eliminator......... did ya see the title of this thread????? LOL. Yours is in my other thread: http://comancheclub.com/topic/32523-hi-I'm-yellaheep-and-I'm-an-mj-aholic/page__hl__addict

Ah. I see. Good luck with the search!

LOL....... nope. You already have an extra set. I'm about helping out those that don't have 'em, not making a mint off of 'em.

Rear Bumper (From 96 Dakota?)
yellaheep replied to Butchershop's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The dakota bed/proportions...... aren't they a good bit wider than an MJ? Seems that the bumper ends will stick out more than would be preferable......... :dunno: Seems it would look REALLY good on an MJ though. Please let us know if it works out. -
Where is "over here"? Does it have to ONLY be an '87? No other years?
-
Made some progress in the '91. Wheels and a '98 front clip. '98 mirrors will go on as well.

Scott, I was able to talk this guy into parting with the hitch before people showed up looking to buy the truck. He wouldn't do it for less than $200 though..... I paid it and removed it today. He sold the truck after that. It was an $800 truck at best..... Lots of bondo, 260k+ miles, cheapie paint job and rotten floors with patch panels riveted in...... It's not the nicest hitch but it's solid. Yours for what I paid if you want it. And about Colorado scrap/salvage...... Jim is mostly right. Denver salvage yards will take cars with or without title.... But they can only sell parts off cars that came in with a clear title. Scrap yards in Denver don't require a title at all, but it has to have a VIN they can clear before they pay for it. Complete cars get highest per ton rate, then there is "incomplete car" for those without an engine or some of its parts, and lastly "scrap tin" for mostly parted out cars. That douchebag Bob and I tried to deal with was just an uncaring, unfriendly pr*ck.
