scguy
Sorry to beat a dead horse, but I just can't decide on a rad for my MJ. Mishimoto looks good, but is pricey and I've seen some people having issues or saying they clog easily. I've been thinking about running a coolant filter anyways. Summit 3 row has some good reviews. Mixed reviews on the CSF 3 row Then there's always the Spectre stocker. Some love it, some hate it. I've already got the triple e fans and shroud on an eBay 3 row aluminum that's now leaking. Is there an all around best radiator?
89 MJ
I’m very much a buy once, cry once type of person. Because of that, I have the Mishimoto in mine. It has been fantastic so far.
JMO413
Love my CSF!
Minuit
My CSF is also doing just fine. But so is the single row Spectra I put in my other truck.
cruiser54
I've used the Napa NR2802 in numerous XJs and MJs with no issues.
89 MJ
FWIW, Mishimoto does have a lifetime warranty. If you never plan on selling your truck, this is a plus.
AZJeff
I have had several XJ's and now an MJ here in PHX. I have run open cooling systems on all of them. I would guess I probably have the MOST severe cooling requirements of anyone on CC. I have found the CSF radiators with the OEM cooling fan clutch and electric fan to do the job just fine. (Along with the appropriate radiator cap.)
75sv1
I also have 2 CFS 3-row all metal radiators. I'm not running in as extremes environments as others. I run about 205 to 210F with a 195F thermostat. The first one did have some damage done to it. I had DW and that took out the motor mounts. Also, the fan was close to the radiator. So, as suggested, use a MOPAR fan clutch if you go with a wider 2 or 3 row radiator. I have run the new one for about 2 years. I had it in my '98 XJ. Now my 2000 XJ. Had issues over the winter as the thermostat malfunctioned. I think a Mr. Gasket. So, I recommend a good quality 195F thermostat.
scguy
I have a Mopar 195F thermostat and efans. I think I've made up my mind. Since my block sat with coolant passages open for several years, it's got some rust in the coolant. I'm going to flush and then install a coolant filter, just keeping this current radiator topped off and give it a while to clean up the coolant before I put a big money radiator in. The current radiator isn't leaking badly, I top it off about once a month. When I do go, it's probably going to be a decision between the CSF and Mishimoto. camjeep3
I can say I don't recommend a 30 yr old crusty stock unit... I need to look in to this upgrade too

I do have a set of SPALs to install with the Dirt Bound shroud. How are the temps? I think with the SPALs I'll have about 2400 CFM. Most want 3000 CFM. I am looking into using the stock electric fan, then add a RHD electric fan and something in the middle. I did order some Nickintime E-fan controllers. ghetdjc320
Mishimoto hands down. Worth the money. Also, a 7 blade mech fan and the 10 blade curved oem late model XJ fan. If the system is clean, it will eliminate heating issues on a hood engine. Novak also makes a very heavy duty unit. Another option is cold case. Slightly cheaper than mishimoto but a very similar design.
Parei_doll_ia
I like my CSF. It didn't have the bung for the fan switch (96 XJ version) so I've been using my REM to control the fan. Runs 195-205 all day long, it was running 220+ before
big66440
Mishimoto gets my vote as well, on top of making a great radiator their customer service is top notch.

From my reading here, I know that is a unit to use to convert to an open system. If I search NAPA's site for NR2802, nothing appears. If I remove the NR, a radiator that is ATM2802 is listed, a match for a 96 XJ. Does not show compatible to a 92 MJ. This ATM2802 is out of stock. Current price is $415. Description shows manufacturer is CSF. Do you think ATM2802 is the same as NR2802? There is a RNR NR1193A radiator available for a 92 Comanche, $165. It has plastic tanks while the ATM2802 is listed to be all metal. I guess that explains the price difference.
KBRAY88MJ
A good affordable radiator that I’ve dropped in my 88 Comanche, a 92 Cherokee and a 97 Cherokee is spectra.

From my quick reading, the 1193 at NAPA and Autozone is Spectra. I didn't see a warranty listed at NAPA, so for the same price I got one from AZ with lifetime warranty. Will be a big relief to get it installed and switched to an open system and have the heater control valve removed.
Fryedaddy
I used the Alloyworks brand from Amazon for a 1991-2001 Cherokee ($160). Most aftermarket radiators won't fit because they have a filler neck on the drivers side that stick into the radiator support. I used a hole saw and cut half of a 3" circle out for the neck on mine with no issues. I've had no trouble, had the radiator in and out atleast three times due to other issues and it cools very well. Muncher
I've got some random Amazon 3 row. Problems are is its too short and the top bolts don't match up at all. Works great though
