Tommy
I towed a Comanche on a uhaul trailer using my friends Colorado z71. Worked fine, told the uhaul guy I was towing a 28 model a. Was only towing it 20 or 30 miles on country roads. The Comanche had 33x12.5s so I had to air down to get the straps on. I think 31s would have been fine. jimoshel
The straps on mine were so worn when I got it I didn't trust them. Replaced them with a set from Auto Zone that's 15 inches longer. Should take a 35 with no problem.
Blue88Comanche
Never had any issues with u-haul car haulers and the SWB, don't see an issue with the LWB
gogmorgo
I pulled my dolly with my dad's Envoy. They would have let me do it on a trailer as well, but there weren't any in my area.
87MJTIM
I used a dolly to tow it to the bodyshop. Then put it on a flatbed to pick it up. I have a Chevy sub 2500 8.1 liter.
hassyfoto
Awhile back I purchased a U_Haul car trailer at one of their used equipment auctions for $450. Best buy I ever made. Only thing I haven't hauled on it so far is a military deuce and half. Towing a Deuce & Half !!!!
Pete M
When I drug Onyx home the straps would not fit over the tires. I have had this issue a few times. I just run the strap over the axle and tighten them up. Never had an issue. It holds them better and they can't slip over the tire or come completely off as the tires go flat either. http://comancheclub.com/topic/11232-project-onyx/?p=232349 I ended up doing the same. the straps technically reached over the 31s, but not enough to actually bite into the ratchets. since I had 750 miles to go (and I'm a bit of a safety freak) I also added a couple logging chains and 3 more big ratchet straps to the mix. I bet that trailer could have rolled and my truck would still be attached.
jpdriver1
have used the u-haul flatbed and the dolly both for moving mj's -- if we are using the mj to haul a trailer, we pick it with the wife's durango --- hehehehehehheeee
TheDude
I towed my LWB MJ WITH 31" Some 500 miles home using just a tow dolly and a Jeep Cherokee with 270k on it. :D
jpnjim
Whenever I needed a U-Haul trailer it's always so I could bring home a CJ-7 frame, no engine, no body :)
91Pioneer
Can't you just deflate the front tires a smidge to make the straps fit better? :)
zackcj7
Worked great towing the longbed. No issues.
COMJNUT
towed a 93 chevy lumina on a u-haul dolly with my swb 91, just spoke enough tech at em to think that I knew that I'd done it many times before. Nowhere near a lwb mj on a trailer, but getting them to allow you to tow anything with their equipment is difficult.
Incommando
I have never had an issue going in person. I have seen guys refused trying to reserve online. You have to input all the info on both vehicles and the program kicks you out if it doesn't like what you told it.

Motorcharge
Towed mine about 6 hours back from Ashville, NC when I bought it with zero issues. 235s on it, but I had plenty of slack in the tie downs, I'm sure 31s would have fit. Ignore the Texas plates on the XJ lol
Wesleypipesyo
The long wheel base fits fine. I am not sure how much I like only strapping the the front tires down. But I just drove close to 300 miles will a 1988 long bed mj on a uhaul trailer and a f150. Gas mileage sucked pretty bad. But plenty of power. Motorcharge
The uhaul trailer I had had tie downs in the rear, they just weren't the over the tire kind.
Wesleypipesyo
The uhaul trailer I had had tie downs in the rear, they just weren't the over the tire kind. I had a chain that went over the rear axle and one that went over the front axle. I was told to not to put tension on those chains. They are there to keep the truck on the trailer in case of an accident. Most flat bed trailers you tie the vehicle to the trailer front and rear with straps over the axles. At least from what I have seen.
Motorcharge
Iirc it had chains in the rear. I ratchet strapped the frame to the trailer in the back on either side to reduce body roll too since I was going through mountains part of the way. I need to tow my XJ on 33x12.5s to work next week and am renting a uhaul trailer so we'll see how well that fits in the tire things. Not that worried about it though, I'll strap it down and drive slow if I have to. I'm only going a few miles, it's just not street legal anymore and sticks out like a sore thumb and I don't want to risk getting pulled with no plates, insurance, ect. Wesleypipesyo
Where in Virginia are you? I drove down to Roanoke yesterday and back. Your 70mph speed limit was fun on the way down and sucked coming back.

shelbyluvv
The newer transporters will fit a 33/12.50r15 on 15x8 wheels with 3.75-4" of BS. The older ones would not fit that setup past the fenders The straps will not fit over the tires. You will either have to bring your own or use the tire straps over the axle.
