Jeep Driver Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Yes, I have one on the 97XJ. Sounds real nice.
yxmj Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I have one on my YJ....4L HO.....nice deep throaty sound.......only time it sounded better was when I ran a straight pipe
Rohls Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Nice! Anyone on their MJ? Do I just get the 2.25" center/offset model and clamp it on? Where did you buy it from...? Thanx!
Incommando Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I am cheap. I used the fully welded thrush knock-off version. People have actually sought me out to find out what my exhaust system was and twice to ask if I had done a v8 swap after hearing it
shelbyluvv Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I have a trush welded as well and love the sound and the price!
88ComancheMitch Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I have a magnaflow knock off. I love it. All stainless and cost under $50
Incommando Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 My muffler and then turn down are 2.5". I adapted up from the head pipe to fit the muffler.
Mattwheels Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I used a magnaflow super 40 I think is what I went, and it sounds amazing on my MJ, 4.0 HO, I highly recommend them, I went with the center inlet and offset out, had a shop weld and install it up. Edit, oh wait different companies, I went with a Flowmaster, super 40. Still sounds amazing :D
Jeep Driver Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Anyone have one on their 2.5l ?? Not so good on the 2.5. I moved mine from the MJ to the XJ........much more throaty on the 4.0
projectMANCHI Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Anyone have one on their 2.5l ?? Not so good on the 2.5. I moved mine from the MJ to the XJ........much more throaty on the 4.0 i don't have a cat in the first place so I'm thinking i chop the muffler off and throw on a cherry bomb, haha
adobson06 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Anyone have one on their 2.5l ?? i chopped my cat off and threw a just a plain dynomax muffler as in their words "performance muffler"... didnt have time to throw the tailpipe back on.... not two days later i had a full tailpipe thrown on was way too loud in the cab to not have it. gives it a much better sound over stock but its not too obnoxious
Jaime Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Do you know the part number of the Thrush muffler? I need to replace mine and the Thrush sounds like the one for me.
dasbulliwagen Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I used a Flowmaster 50 series on my 2.5. Love it. Not too loud almost quiet idle with a nice growl under load.
Jeepman Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I run the Magnaflow XL Muffler on mine and Love it... Great Sound for sure and not too loud at idle either which is how I like it... http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/universalsatinxl.asp

Knucklehead97 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Almost any local auto store sells the Thrush Welded and Turbo in store for about $40. I bought one last summer and cheaply threw it on and I love the sound. All of my friends have big V8's with loud exhausts but my MJ sounds just as good  People think that I have a V8 as well
benjy_26 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Anyone have one on their 2.5l ?? Check out my build thread. I had a 2.25" downpipe bent up and flared to meet a 2.5" Magnaflow glasspack that directly feeds a 2.5" Magnaflow big case muffler. Quiet and deep at idle, deep and throaty under load, and best of all, no drone when cruising.

Update: I got the Magnaflow 2.5" in/out a couple feet long...AWESOME sound and feel. no drone at highway speeds...super fun.

Magnaflow makes good, hi-po mufflers with few of the hi-po muffler drawbacks. I'm glad you're enjoying it!

benjy_26 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Magnaflow makes some pretty big cans, you just have to look through ther catalog. In my MJ, I have a 2.5" diameter set up with an 18" Magnaflow glasspack feeding an 18" Turbo style muffler.
