  1. looking forward to this build. ultimate goal for my comanche is 4 link and 1 tons
  2. May i ask how much money you have wrapped up in rebuild parts, i am planning on rebuilding my 2.5 for a senior project, THANKS
  3. where are the vacuum lines for the blower located?
  4. i also have an 86 2.5l MJ and i really wanna do a 4.0 swap, if i bought a donor xj off craigslist for a good price what else would i need to buy? i am on a highschool budget, and for my senior year we have to do a big 80 hour project and this is what i want to do, which will be over the summer! So basically what I want to know is how much more challenging is a 4.0 swap on an 86, and what else will i need to buy besides the donor cherokee and gaskets?
  5. When i turn on my heater, air only comes out of the defroster and I can feel some air under the dash by the passengers foot area. BUT, the air from the defroster is hot and the air coming out from under the dash is freezing cold? any ideas??? also no matter what mode I put the blower on, no air comes from the central vents, only the defroster and under the dash, i have no idea what could cause this besides maybe a faulty blower motor. Other than that i am clueless :???: and help would be much appreciated. THANKS ALOT, Hank Current tempature here in ohio is 1 degrees...
  6. what was the price on the tie rod, TRE, and sleeve?
  7. thanks everyone for all the advice, time to save up for some JEEP PARTS
  8. i was at Haspin Saturday. I have heard about "behind Walmart" on OffRoadOhio.com but never been there its a great place man, endless trails. just watch out for the homeless people chillin down there you should come down there sometime, haven't seen another comanche owners yet
  9. cool, I'm gonna look into the zj tie rod, and TRE's then the moog drag link. I still need to know what year would fit my 86 comanche? thanks much
  10. does it matter what year its from?
  11. Just wondering what your guys preferences are, looking to upgrade some steering components such as a new tie rod, and drag link. I've already upgraded the track bar. with the stock steering components i literally need an alignment after every trail run :fs1: , any preferences on sellers, or anything else i should look at upgrading up front? not looking to spend a 1500 doll hairs, but i want quality parts. THANKS (86 comanche 2.5l 4 speed)
  12. I'm running the rough country 4.5" lift with an adjustable track bar, and sway bar disconnects, after that its pretty much complete, i haven't had any problems with mine. they also sell a 6.5" lift that comes complete which i feel is a better bang for your buck. ROUGH is an understatement
  13. every comanche owner who lives on ohio go join 4WHEELINGOHIO on Facebook and come hit up the trails behind Walmart on south high street. (columbus ohio) Usually go up every sunday around noon, hit me up if you're in the area
  14. EVERYONE come to the trails in columbus!
  15. where do you usually trail in wayne???
  16. so all i have to do is remove the CAD cover and move that ring to the left, and reinstall the cover upside down?
  17. SO, last weekend i was at the trails and i was going up a pretty steep hill in 4lo and one of my buddies said that only my rear wheels were spinning, so then i realized that my truck won't engage into 4wd??? i have an 86 2.5l 4 speed, i recently installed a 4.5 inch RC lift. I'm thinking that with the lift, the front drive shaft angle is too much and it is not engaging into the differential, it just spins. would a transfer case drop kit fix this problem? or could it be something more serious? I would GREATLY appreciate any ideas/solutions to this horrible problem, THANK YOU (also one day i was at my friends farm, right after it snowed and we were drifting around a little bit and after about ten or 15 minutes of going pretty hard in second gear my truck lost power and shut off, about 5 minutes later it started right back up and i headed home, any ideas on that problem would be appreciated)
  18. you know anything about what wiring harness work would need done?
  19. so recently I've been watching way too many roadkill episodes and i have began dreaming about engine swaps, they make it look so easy. with that being said, my 2.5l is not as fast as i want it to be and its very old, so i have a few questions would a 5.3L chevy Ls motor fit into my 86 comanche? I've been doing some research and have found these pretty cheap. What all would i need to buy to do this swap? I'm not worried about the difficulty (except for wiring) but i do work at firestone and i would have lots of dudes with some knowledge to help me out. so what i really want to get out of this post is a basic list of parts that i would need to buy, and if an ax-15 would work with the 5.3? THANKS and bear with me I'm sort of a noob with a big dream
  20. so when my truck is at idle the alternator charges around 14 volts, which is normal id say, but the problem is when i turn on my blower and headlights it drops down and charges at like 12 volts i think this is why I've been going through so many batteries recently :fs1: , any one have any ideas on why this happens? I'm thinking its a regulator issue or something along the lines, but knowing these trucks it could be a simple ground. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, THANKS (1986 2.5l 4 speed 4x4)
  21. that light controls wether the alternator is charging the battery, ( well it does on my 86) there is a 10 amp fuse for it either labeled gauge or instrument cluster, and yes it should come on when the ignition is on until you start your truck. check and see if that 10 amp fuse is blown, if you can't figure out which one it is i recommend replacing all your 10 amp fuses( the fusebox inside the truck)
  22. my problem was the cluster fuse that controlled the "charging light" without the fuse the alternator would not charge the battery, runs, but not as good as i want, time to rebuild the throttle body and intake and plugs and wires, then maybe a cold air intake? any suggestions thanks
  23. If your alternator is not charging your battery, check your instrument cluster fuse. I learned this the hard way after replacing my alternator and battery twice. Supposedly if your battery/charge light isn't functioning your alternator won't either.
  24. did your truck crank at all before? mine is at a no start also and wondering if its just the starter or a ground somewhere.
  25. Yea i do recall two bolts that are vertical that go up through the starter, didnt think it was those though because of the cherokee video i watched, thanks for the help
