  1. I surfaced mine before putting it in. When the truck would get warmed up it would tend to not fully release when the clutch was pushed in. It was a very minor amount, but at stop lights and the such you'd notice by not rolling back any, or even creeping a little.
  2. Hm good to know the Sprintex won't work on strokers, I was leaning towards it but not if its useless on a 4.7
  3. So I must have missed it, you're no longer running the Supercharger?
  4. http://www.spadanoenterprises.com/-mj--comanche.html
  5. Not likely, the guy lives here in Portland Oregon, my guess is it was at the local state forest.
  6. Lol, this picture made the rounds pretty fast, the guy who posted it owns the mj, he was just trolling that group.
  7. ford 8.8 is the same lug pattern as the D35, 4.5 x 5, makes it a super common swap for jeepers.
  8. Hmm my leafs don't look the same, could that cause vibrations?
  9. if he did that Benjy He'd have to switch the back axle to 5x5 as well as the Axles have different lug patterns than XJ's.
  10. Hmm let's hope I don't, but it can be changed if need be. Got back home to Oregon, and dropped the t case, had both off my packages from aa at my work will probably put on the sye tomorrow, I'm beat from the weekend
  11. I can't see the benefits of spending that much on that product, Has anyone ever even broken that part before?
  12. http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/np231-sye--new-process-231j-fixed-yoke-kit-50-7906--50-7907/ Welp.. went with an AA SYE, and tom woods driveshaft, even after talking with Mnkyboy, about drive shafts the tom woods is more expensive but I'm in montana for work and won't be able to go to my local driveline place to get a quote and new shaft for a good week or so, so hopefully by the time I get back I'll have a nice heavy package waiting for me.
  13. Brakes all done up and looking nice, this is how they should have came! Steering is finished, took her for a test run around my warehouse and my driveshaft fell out.. guess 5.5" inches was too much. Going with a sye and custom driveshaft to get myself back on the road
  14. RCV are good, but not cheap.. Have you tried putting in the larger U joints found in the ABS models?
  15. Calipers are on, front connecting rod is finished and welded up, now the steer rod is left, should hopefully be driving her tonight. Although still have to adjust the rear drums
  16. It looks Close Cobra, but it clears the spring with a decent amount of room, I believe I had it at full lock in that picture even. I unfortunately have to work today so I won't get a chance to work on it today, but tomorrow the plan is to get my steer rod cut to length, and the knuckles and pitman drilled out all the way. After that I should be back on the road!
  17. I figured it was about time to start a build thread, I've owned my comanche since August of 2012. So far I've taken apart one Cherokee to convert it over to obd1, but recently acquired this! 98 xj 5 speed, with 155k on it, ran and drove till I got to it. She started out as a 4.0 automatic, idiot lights and a bench seat. Managed to find an external slave ax15 for 50$ After a full rebuild on the transmission and Cherokee swapping she was up and running! Drove like a champ! Now on to modifying! 5.5" of lift, new 32" tires and rims, and an 8.25! The old turd removed The 8.25 spring over installed Next the front, drop brackets, springs, and shocks And here she is back on her own feet After lifting it exacerbated the problem of my bad tie rods ends, confirmed it when I took it to les schwabs to get the front aligned and they wanted 400+ to take care of that, so time for the next upgrade... Wj knuckles,1 ton steering, and abs axle shafts. Ball joints removed, had 3 bad ones. Ran into a clearance issue.. No way the steer tire rod would clear that. Cut off wheel solved that problem, I'll have to figure out a sway bar later on. This is close to how she currently sits, I've got 3 holes left to fully ream for my new TRE's.
  18. So the Rocker panels for the comanche will be finished by the end of this month? if so I'm interested in getting some, and depending how far back they go, if they go past the cab if any.
  19. I'm running 5.5 inches myself, since getting the lift, and shocks on I havent had a change to go on the highway, my steering was shot, so I'm upgrading to WJ steering. but will let you know how the ride turns out.
  20. I went with Bilsteins 5150's all around, they're a lot stiffer than my old monroe sensatrack's which I like a lot. if you order them from Iron Rock Offroad, you can Email Kolak@aol.com and get a decent deal, usually 10% off, I got mine before the end of the year with 20% off :)
  21. I turned my Renix 4.0 Flywheel, and the only problem I have is if I'm at a stand still its a little hard to get into gear, first in particular. If I coast and shift into 1st at say 2-4mph then its easy as cake. Imagine when I switch over to the 98 I'll either use the 98 flywheel or just buy a new one.
  22. Thats a Really nice Comanche I must say! The Cheapest option would be to find a low mile used engine, preferably one you can listen to run. if you're looking at spending that kind of money on a Rebuilt I'd almost just look into a Golen stroker motor.
  23. Also depending if you're tbi or mpi, tbi should in theory have a small gain, mpi will have zero gains
  24. for an 8.25 you need to cut the old perches off, weld new ones on. Same with an 8.8, if you're lucky you can find a mj dana 44
