comanche87
don't get the cherry bomb muffler. it wil last maybe a year then explode there only made from thin metal. i had one and it was junk. glasspack is kool but just doesnt last that long. id rather go with flowmaster just because its made from a thick metal and welded very good. it also sounds mean and loud!. mvusse
I ran a Cherry Bomb (the original glass pack, not the "turbo" muffler) on my F100 for 7 years until I wrecked it. Ran a Thrush glass pack on my Suburban and currently run one on The Pig in line with the stock muffler (no cat, needed more length to make it to the exhaust hanger.) Run a Cherry Bomb glass pack on an otherwise stock exhaust on Booger. I don't care what it sounds like. I'm a cheapskate and therefore go with what's available cheap. The only vehicle I bought a stock replacement muffler for was my Geo Prizm. $9.95, came with a 999 month (yes, you read that right) warranty. The stock muffler that was on my Olds 98 when I bought it outlasted the car.
Darren
Glasspack all the way.
socal1200r
Get one of these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-17655/ I have one of these on my MJ, and sounds pretty nice. They're less than half the price of a comparable Flowmaster or Magnaflow all-welded chambered muffler. Shipping is around $10, so check your local auto parts store, they might have one in stock. I got mine from a local Advance Auto, for about $38.
freakjeep93
the glass pack sounds cool and i know guys who have had good luck with them . for the sake of like 40 bucks (thats what they are around here) id go glasspack.
mjeff87
Thrush dual chamber welded version.......same as a FM40 but half the cost. Just put one on the MJ last weekend, to get rid of the glasspack I had been running. Jeff viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20546&start=

jpdocdave
holy crap, at least wade has some sense :shake: , i hate excessively loud exhaust on 99 percent of vehicles. on a harley or the right muscle car fine, otherwise just run a mild performance muffler, thats my opinion. but i was younger once and used that crap to :dunno:

mvusse
If you get a 30" glass pack, and don't put it behind a 4 cylinder, they are not too loud. The loud ones are the little 12" ones.
Justin_k
I'm running a red devil on my jeep 4.0 H.O. It's not really loud but you know its there when you step on it. Kinda "Raps off" when you step on it
socal1200r
For the price of a decent glasspack, you could get a Thrush all-welded chambered muffler, which IMHO is a better deal...but it's your money, get whatever you'll be happy with... ComancheKid45
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BIG-50051FLT/ I run these on both my Jeeps and love the sound, my MJ has a hollowed Cat and my XJ is all factory exhaust and it puts out 2 different sounds without excessive volume
Blue XJ
flowmaster 40 thats what I have and I think it sounds real good on my stroker.
layback209
Well i'm rocking the glass pack right now, sounds meen (kinda like a tractor) but it gets realy loud after a few months. I'm cheep so i went with it but my hearing is begin me to open my pocket up. You know your exhaust is loud when it over powers your $1000 sound system lol. GO flowmaster!!! BJA814
I run a 2.5" glass pack (about 18" long body) to a 3" thrush turbo muffler and 3" tailpipe. No cat. converter either. By far the best sounding 4.0 exhaust I've heard around.
mvusse
My Cherokee (4.0 HO)has a 26" long Cherry Bomb glasspack and stock cat, and at freeway speeds the drone can just be heard over the wind noise. Cheap Wal-Mart stereo easily drowns it out. Suburban (350 TBI) had a 30" Thrush glasspack and hollowed out cat, and same thing, except for the stereo being the stock factory radio. Ford F100 (302) had a 30" Cherry Bomb glasspack and no cat, and same thing except for the stereo being a "Pioneer Super Tuner" piece of poo running through even worse Jensen speakers. Comanche (4.0) doesn't count, as it has an OEM replacement muffler in line with the glass pack, but no cat.

socal1200r
Here's a sample from Summit of a Thrush glasspack and Thrush chambered muffler: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-24201/ (Thrush glasspack, $24) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-17655/ (Thrush all-welded chambered, $30) To me, the all-welded chambered design is well worth the extra $6... Justin_k
i can honestly say I am dieing to hear a blue bottle on a 4.0 litre. But I can't afford the $!00+ to try it
Oizarod115
go with a 40 series flowmaster and don't look back i went 50 series and its really quiet, almost a stock sound, but more growly.
watchamakalit
I am currently running a gutted cat through an old glasspack that was on the truck when I got it. Sounds ok but it has a real "tinny" sound to it sometimes. I just helped a buddy change out 2 40 series flowmasters with stock mufflers on his GTP (he is getting old). He gave me the 40's so I think I am gonna revamp my exhaust and run a straight pipe to a 40 with a turn down. I figure if sounds like crap I can always try some different combos. I think its the getted cat that's giving me the "tinny" sound. Almost sounds like a dirtbike after you wrap it out.
