Is that an 87? or is that an 86? :hmm:

Nice clean MJ BTW, welcome aboard image_209027.gif

Thanks!

Oregon title states 1987. H in the 10th position on the VIN confirms indeed 1987: 1JXXXXXXXHT001663.

What is not shown, however is the dent on the drivers' side. The guy I purchased it from was stationed at Ellsworth AFB and it was struck while parked.

That'll probably buff right out.

I bought an 89' Pioneer 4.0L 2wd for $2,500 off Craigslist. No rust that I can find except for a little on the tailgate handle. Seems to runs well so far and leaks a small bit of oil near the distributor but doesn't seem to be a big deal. I'm having the front brakes and rotors replaced next week along with a new front windshield. So basically I spent $3,000 for a 89' Jeep with a rebuilt engine and tranny. Not sure if I got a good deal or not but I love this truck so far.

Pictures to follow soon.

Best advice I can give is: ask questions. We'll do our best to steer you clear of any pitfalls and keep your truck on the road (or off the road as the case may be :D ).

antidisestablishmentarianism ya think :D

I think you are missing some shackles.

Willy

huh?? i didnt think a 2wd had shackles?? idk youve got me wondering now plz help

Leaf springs need shackles, it doesn't matter if the vehicle is 2WD or 4WD. As their length grows and shrinks with the cycling of the suspension they need something to pivot on, the shackles. Without shackles the ride will be horrible and you will eventually destroy something.

hey everybody. new here, just picked up a comanche(finally!) a couple weeks ago. been trying to find one off and on for the last couple years. have had a few xj's, still have one-a '96, although my original desire was for an mj. been on naxja for a while now, but time to join The Comanche Club. '89 long bed, 4.0, 4x4, manual trans(ba-10 unfortunately), d35, power nothing-just the way i like it. picked it up for $900. it had been sitting for a couple years under a tree. it was nasty-filthy. got a few minor issues to sort out, mostly dried out seals and the like. pretty straight and original, no rust-except for surface scratches here and there. i'm pretty stoked with it so far.

Another MJ Rescued!

Picked here up this 4th of July :USAflag: I wish I had my digicam when I bought her to do a before and after. The paint was the original and was in very sad shape with surface rust in many places, especialy the roof. Bought her from the original owner w/ 100,383 miles. Wife and kids nicknamed her "Mater" from the Cars movie.

So I took her down to bare metal, primed and repainted with Tractor Supply Co. Truck and Trailer Paint. Got the chrome parts from the JY.

So far I've done:

-Cluster swap (for tach)

-Open Cooling system upgrade

-New Headliner

-New back glass

-V8 ZJ Front Sway bar

Going to eventually swap in and AX-15 and 4WD. Then maybe a 3" lift :chillin:

88 Comanche Base Model ShortBed 4x4 w/ 2.5L and 4 speed manual, 149k. Winch bumper with old TX2 winch that needs rebuilding, and i just installed a cb radio. Plans for 3-4 inch lift on 31's or 32's, swap ax4 for ax5 and re-gear (4.88's?). Picked her up a few months ago, she needs love that i'm willing to give, just redid the headliner (thanks comanche club!) for 20 bucks from joanns fabrics!
