Some guys moved to a Volvo electric PS pump. That might be an option for you. Borgeson Electric Power Steering - LS1TECH - Camaro and Firebird Forum Discussion -

I think the problem is that the Corvette pump is very small and doesn't deal with a lot of distance from the tank. When I had the G8 setup I probably had 2 feet of hose. It squealed like a pig. It wasn't cavitation. I just don't think the pump had enough power to pull the fluid through that much hose when you think the stock hose from the reservoir to the pump is no more than 3"!!! -

I used a G8 remote reservoir for a little while. The pump didn't like the extended hose length, made a lot of not good noises. Went back to the standard corvette setup with the tank right above the pump. No more noises

I would probably do an auto. The LS torque curve doesn't lend itself very well to a 5 speed. Or I would go with 3.73 gears nor 3.55. The LS makes its power once you get over 2.5k revs. The LS1 intake doesn't help that moves up the torque and power curve. A good tune might fix some of it too. Still haven't got around to getting the LS on a dyno. -

I have had this really annoying rear transfer case seal leak, well that is what I thought it was. Turns out the crappy Spicer slip yoke is what is leaking. After several rear transfer case seal swaps with no fix I decided to stand my driveshaft on its end and I filled the slip yoke spline shaft with ATF. Sure enough the next morning I looked at the yoke and fluid was pooling behind the yoke base. Never seen this before. I wonder how many people fighting transfer case leaks really don't have a seal issue but a leaking yoke. -

I had one in my LJ. Very poor German truck transmission and it had a shift throw that was insanely long. B&M makes a short throw shifter which helped a bit. Mine only had around 35k on it and it was impossible to shift quickly. The syncro's were really weak. A Tremec TKX or a TR4050 would be the best choice. However, the old AX15 is a pretty stout trans too. -
If anybody is looking for connectors these guys are about the best. Very clear pictures and connectors and pins are all cross referenced. I have found this site really helpful in identifying connectors. Replacement AC Liquid Line?
Limeyjeeper replied to BizarroStormy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Very hard to find. Probably need to get one made or go to a junkyard. You can ditch the brass valve which does absolutely nothing and then you have a more standard fitting on the drier. Both ends would then be No 6 fittings. -
That is a really cool looking unit. Got to be either running Android or just apple car play and Android Auto. From the Walmart site the specs look pretty impressive. It would definitely fit in a pre 97. I have a 6.5" Joying which works well, but I wish it was a bit shorter. This one would be perfect. I just had my worse, to date, late midlife crisis and bought a GMC Syclone. Always had a love affair with this vehicle it is so cool. If anybody is going to be at the Carlisle Truck Nationals it will be there with a bunch of others. 36k miles, totally clean. It is fast. Not sure I am liking the bed cover. Paint is almost perfect for the age. It is almost exactly the same size as a Comanche but has a much better driving position. I keep telling myself it is an investment as they only made 2,900 of them. Was the fastest pickup truck until the TRX came out. Held the honor for 30 years.

I had the mount in its most rear position. The motor sits really close to the bulkhead. -

Very late with the update. Got the Quickdraw bellhousing installed. Much better setup than the Novak adapter. However, I had to lop a bit off the top of the bellhousing to get it to fit. If you are dropping the engine and trans in together it might fit. If I had removed the radiator etc. to allow me to drop the engine even further, I might have got it, but it would probably have needed the headers to be removed. Stock external slave cylinder works perfectly. Overall, a nice setup. Allowed me to move the transmission up another inch or so, which has stopped my transfer case tailhousing leak. Next project is to get the under-dash wiring organized. I have been in there too many times to troubleshoot a couple of things and now it is interfering with the accelerator pedal - Not good. -
Well done, great truck and your sense of adventure is awesome!!

Ordering front end parts
Limeyjeeper replied to Spinnakerblue89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do not go aftermarket on Header panel. The aftermarket ones are primarily junk. Very flimsy and don't fit well. Find a good used one at a junkyard. Aftermarket headlight bezels are hit and miss. You can find usually find OEM grills on Ebay. Again, aftermarket is hit or miss. As you have a pre 91 the headlight bezels are two piece (very hard to find OEM, not made aftermarket except as one piece) and the header panel has the metal strips which no aftermarket has. After 90 the header panel lost the metal strips, and the headlight bezels are a different one-piece design. Not interchangeable. You would need an after 90 header panel, headlight bezels and grille. -

Go with a Walker factory replacement. Works fine and pretty cheap. -

That is an outstanding idea. I had so much trouble with my build identifying some of the connectors that I gave up and changed to Deutch!!
