    car dolly

Maybe your U-Haul. I have rented dollys in a few different places and towed it with my WJ. As long as it is not an open top Jeep or a Explorer and the vehicle being towed does not out weigh the tow rig they will rent them to you. I rented a dolly and towed it with a Intrepid from CA to GA.
  2. you are aware of the fact that you need massive front core support work to make a 4.0 fit in a 86 right? Look at how the radiators mount in both the XJ and the MJ and you will see the difference. Save the XJ for a later date and drop a 3.4 camaro or firebird motor in it and be done with it. BTW, nice black interior!

    car dolly

I have been know to wrap the tire straps around the axle and put a couple extra straps on the TOWed to make a 33 work on a dolly.
  4. Bhfear, I need the B pillar plastic and the carpeted rear panel. I would need it shipped to me at 92277. You can PM me an we can take it from there to keep your build thread from getting cluttered up. yellaheep, I am looking for burgundy stuff.
  5. That XJ has nice interior! It looks almost new inside. If you are going to swap out the burgundy for the gray I need a few parts.
  6. Have you seen my build threads? :hmm: I change everything!
  7. There is a set in a XJ on NAXJA that is being parted out. It was in a AZ Chapter.
  8. Steel, $30 at Advance Auto.
  9. I clicked the link but there are no pics to be seen. You might have to sign up for the board to see them. I am on enough Jeep forums and will not be signing up for another.
  10. This requires more pics and a write up in the DIY section. Great looking truck too!
  11. Yes and no. We need more information on both vehicles. Engines, transmission, and transfers to start.
  12. Change out the XJ connectors for weather proof ones. Extend the MJ wiring to reach the XJ connectors. Make the top bulb on the MJ the brake lights. Make the lower bulbs the turn signals. Wire the two parking lights together the keep both top and bottom bulbs lit. This will mimic the way the XJ lights are wired. I did this to Onyx and it was easy to do. I do not think you can get the stock XJ wiring to just plug into the MJ wiring and not have the lights fight each other.
  13. Thrush welded.
  14. I have no problem waiting for word from Brett on the status of the shirt order. Can't you set up something through cafepress or something along those lines? You can never go wrong with gray shirts with black lettering.
  15. Johnny, look at the early Rangers too. I really like the benches in them.
  16. I can't see buying a whole XJ for just the kick panels and lower dash trim.
  17. Not really. I have a 94 XJ cluster and harness in my 86 V8 MJ. The guage read backwards too. I swapped in a HO sender and all is good.
  18. You need a HO MJ fuel level sender to do it correctly.
  19. It was great seeing you again today my friend! Thanks again for the fenders and tailgate!!!
  20. Because I can!
  21. I went today to pick up some free front fenders for the truck. When I got there to see a long lost friend of mine, Johnnyc, he had a present for me. Not only did I get perfect 96- fenders he also gave a beautiful tailgate too! I have almost all the parts to finish putting the truck together!
  22. It's a good day when you learn something - gracias. I said that because I tried it on my 01 XJ and it didn't work. Nothing happened. :dunno: But this old dog is never too old to learn, and my next six HLs are dedicated to you Rob. My 2000 XJ would not do it either. But, my 04 WJ and 07 Cummins both do it. :dunno:
  23. Is it going to be fuel injected? Nobody makes motor mounts. you are going to have to fab your own. The rad support is a special thing on the 86. You will have to figure out your own cooling system. There are three 5.2/5.9 MJ swaps that I know of on this board. Mine (Black Betty) thread below in my sig. Which is a 86. Terrawombat's and 360mjdude's, 86 as well.
  24. Old fuse that just had enough after 20 years of service is a possiblity. Also the pump putting to much draw on it could have popped it too. If it does it again then you have bigger problems.
  25. There are numerous members here who have bought rust free running MJs for $500 or less. I have bought 3 so far. They are out there. MJs are not all that hard to find. You just have to get out of the rust belt.
