  1. That chunk is a piston skirt. Do you have a minor knock at idle?
  2. Pete, hit up Alec, Bigalpha, he was a big help to me when I was on another board dealing with computer issues.
  3. I like http://dodgetruckworld.tenmagazines.com ... forums.asp of course Cummins forum as well.
  4. It is a ton of work. The 2WD Rams have A arms and coils. Where the 4WD trucks are set up very similar to an MJ. It is very time and labor intensive to make one 4WD. Not to mention the price of the axle, drive shafts, trans, and transfer are crazy exspensive.
  5. Yep, stay away from the early 5 speeds. Everyone knows that the Dodge auto is crap. I replaced mine in my 07 at 68K. I like the 24 valve but I would not turn down a 12 valve if the price is right. I think that 01 you are going to look at is over priced. I bought my 07 with 68K for $18,000. I took out an extended warranty and it covered the trans replacement. My 07 is a 5.9 not that 6.7 turd. Not DPF or EGR problems.

Anyone else notice that the Jeep under the plane is a ZJ but all the interior shots and the final pull up is a WJ?
  7. I would love to know the build date and in service date of this truck. If we could ever get the info. I had your VIN ran and it has been deleted out of the system. I got lucky and mine was not cut yet. Mine was built in 9/85 (not sure on the day) and put into service 10/85. I would like to know when both trucks rolled down the line. There has been rumor that just because the VIN run in sequence that does not mean the trucks were built in that order.
  8. You will need everything from under the hood of the donor Jeep. Also, you will need the wiper motor, head light switch, brake light switch, and the heater box off the fire wall. You will also need, the XJs steering column and interior harness too. You have to make adapter plugs from the XJ harness to the MJ harness. The fuel gauge is also going to read backwards unless you can make the XJ sender work on the MJ pump module, or find a HO MJ pump module. There are a bunch of other little issues I am forgetting right now but, this will be the bulk of them off the top of my head. It is not direct bolt in swap to change from RENIX to OBDII wiring.

  10. Thanks man. That is such a nice example of a Shelby Charger. Looks like you guys had a great time.
  11. I was going to do a ZJ front end on a MJ once. The ZJ is at least 2" wider than a MJ. Could it be made to work? I'm sure it could be.
  12. AX/4 or AX/5 manual trans or a 904 automatic are the only true bolt ins for your truck. The bad part is they all are junk. I would find a good running 4.0, 4X4 XJ and swap all the parts over to the MJ.

  14. Not all are cut out for the Men's Department portion of the Navy. :clapping: On a serious note. Best of luck to the OP on your future endeavors! Semper Fi!
  15. I finally manned up and peeled the door sticker off the truck. Luckily for me it was lifting right under the date stamp. I spent the better part of 15 minutes with a magnifying glass and different types of flash lights to figure out the build date. It was clear as a bell once I got it angled just right. She was built 9/85 and was put into service October 10, 1985. The build date corresponds to the in service date. Now if I could only get the day it was made I would be a happy man!

  17. I am still working on getting up there to get that shell. I was the victim of identity theft last night so my funds are in limbo right now. Let's try to work out a solid date here soon. I could possibly take a couple days off during the week and grab it on evening when you are home.

  19. You mean using these? http://www.summitracing.com/search/Department/Wheels-Tires/Product-Line/Summit-Racing-Wheel-Rim-Screws/?autoview=SKU I have done it a few times to my drag cars. The reason for it was because the slicks would grip harder than the beads could hold. On a hard launch you would spin the wheels while the tire stayed planted. This hurts your 60 foot times and can pop a bead on launch. I spent a few hours at a tire place once getting my tires perfectly lined up with the SHELBY stamped on my wheels. As you looked at the car it would read Shelby Charger on the wheels and tires. It looked pretty cool sitting on the show grounds. After a heavy application of a traction compound to the track and a few hard launches my wheels had spun in the tires. I went to a steel wheel and slicks with screws shortly after that for racing. This is an old school racing trick that is still used today. They will leak air through the screw holes no matter what you do to stop it. They will also loosen up and fall out. I do not recommend them for a street driven vehicle.
  20. If that top header piece is still straight I would like to buy it from you. I can't find one anywhere.

  22. Are you sure it was a carbed 4.0? I have never heard of one before.
  23. Did you get the VIN for the registry off the 86?
  24. You might be correct Glenn. My truck was more than likely a special order unit. It had some weird options from the factory on a base truck. Things like a 2.5, AX4, 4X4, A/C, black vinyl bench seat, carpet, chrome bumpers and grille, manual steering, and the 4:10 axles. I have no idea what they were thing when they ordered this truck. I am glad I get her back though.
