  1. So I sold her a while ago to my neighbour across the street, and it sat in his driveway for a loong time. I couldn't stand to see her sitting anymore (and I needed a work truck) so I bought her back and now I'm driving her daily again
  2. I dissasembled the Idle control motor a while back and it hasn't been the same since  I got tired of having to feather the gas for over a minute at cold start and looked up the Idle control motor on rockauto. couldn't find anything that matched up to a 4 cylinder and only found valves for the 4.0's So a combination of google and comancheclub searches came up with the "Interchange part number" put that number into ebay and BAM $80 later my jeep is cold starting like a champ! Anyway thought I'd share my success with the other 4 banger owners. Interchange Part Number: 17079129 Part Number: 10957732 here's the ebay page: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/350694127217?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
  3. Threw in some lift shackles that I think did next to nothing. replaced the badly leaking ps pressure line, purchased a 1990 gauge cluster from an XJ and plan on picking up the senders and swapping it today, complete with odometer switching. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=921205
  4. haha oh yeah and I was rear ended mid october. had just replaced the muffler and tailpipe and wanted to go out to buy that pre-heater hose from lordco. Just as I was waiting for someone to get out of my way (they were exiting through the entrance to the parking lot) bam! bugger in a Sierra smashed my tailgate and left side of the box. So I'm entertaining the idea of a flat deck. :brows: I was able to find one pic of a manche with one, but I'm sure there are more.
  5. So I've been puttering around, not doing much. been laid off since beginning of the month. Been passing the time reading about lifts, performance and cotm. I threw in a Preheater hose it seems to really help the idle at cold start, no more stumbling and stuttering. Also I was getting VERY VERY weary of the steering clunk when turning left AND right, so after cruising around the search forum here I decided to replace the track bar. Like almost everyone here the nut on the tb bolt was seized, and the bushing was seized to the bolt (damn Canadian weather) so after getting soaked under my truck and failing with the wrenches I came back with a hacksaw. cut the bolt and the new Moog tb went in without a hitch. Now my steering is much more responsive and no more Clunk! "turn turn turn" Pop!
  6. I have a 4 cyl and just did an oil & filter change. after finally connecting my oil pressure gauge I get a reading of around 55 and when accelerating it climbs about 10 psi. my question is what is the psi supposed to be at idle? The search isnt working out.
  7. I did an oil change today. changed to 5w-30 in anticipation of colder weather. Also changed from the regular Fram filter to the higher mileage Fram (which has some sort of gelatin in it that disperses over time) While getting oil everywhere I couldnt help but think about the brass plug sitting where the oil pressure switch used to. so I went to duncan auto and asked the guy what I need to make my aftermarket gauge work. I wasn't nearly educated enough to articulate to the counter dood what I wanted, so after telling him I don't need a switch he got annoyed and said "thats all I got for your year and engine" Just as I was thinking of what to say some guy standing next to me starts firing off questions. "You have a gauge?" Yep "The gauge have a little hose that needs to plug somewhere?" Yep "Then all you need is that kit right there." He points right behind the counter dood and there it is, a fitting to go into the block, a brass hose and another fitting to plug into the gauge. done and done. Now at idle I get a reading of about 55. When accelerating it goes to about 65.
  8. I did my road test in the comanche! ( I know its sad it took this long to getter done but it happens.) Anyway I totally thought it was worth mentioning as not many guys can say that, except a few on this site.
  9. Other than the diff I'm working on getting some anti-wrap perches u-bolt plates and extended brake lines to spring over. just need a good welder and some rear shock recomendations. I also have to replace the upper and lower balljoints as I have a clunk when steering. anyone use auto parts warehouse? They have some cheap set for $20 i think (don't wanna spend too much on the 2wd axle if I'm swapping it soon anyway) just wondering if anyone has had good or horrible experiences with them. If they are good then I'll probably get some mud flaps too.
  10. Wow update time. I've been trying to keep this comanche alive and its been slow going. (Funding issues ha) Since last year I've re-assembled the spare tire carrier, threw a spare in there, did the tape measure toe in adjustment, Got some reflective jeep stickers, euramtec b pillar lights, 3" rc coil springs, power steering swap, I even got my hands on an ax-5 and np231 for the 4x4 conversion (I've managed to track down the only 4.10 d30 on the Island, but the guy says its $650.... so... I'm thinking its made of gold or he's trying to make the most he can off me.
  11. That was really neat, I liked it!
  12. but the point to this story is when I was coasting down the last hill into duncan I let the truck get over 110km/h (not smart I know) anyway the truck started going into the infamous death wobble!!!! everything was shaking and rattling like in those dodge videos on youtube. my hand immediately shot for the hazard light switch and luckily I had room to pull over. I had never been in a vehicle in a death wobble before, let alone drive one! I've had the km/h a little bit higher without incident, and I want to make sure it never happens again.
  13. went over the malahat today, and things seemed great except for the lack of power! I had to keep it in fourth every time I hit an incline. at least I won't be getting any speeding tickets.... anyway I went to Victoria to make a deal with a guy about a starter, aftermarket radiator, drivers side mirror w/ internal adjuster (I like!) front clip w/ headlights, the interior pieces for both doors and four brand new drum shoes. paid him 90 bucks and listened to him unload his knowledge of Jeeps and engines.
  14. I'm not exactly sure how much its going to be to get a nice 2.5 but I think this weekend I'll make some calls and get an idea of how much its going to be, because (for me) it will take more than a few weekends to put in that 4.0 I guess it's more practical to put the parts search on hold and get the 2.5 asap.
  15. Yeah I spaced out on that one..... I was focusing on the chips and chunks of metal missing in the photos, and assumed that was where they came from. I think I should do WAY more homework before asking so many questions.
