  1. if you take the wiring from the HO motor and swap it with the renix one then yes it is plug and play, but then you will have lots of little odds and ends like making the pig tail for the front HO harness to the rear renix harness, then you have the issue of your fuel guage not reading correct or accurate. alson on mine i swapped steering colums so i caould have tilt and cruise control. i started this swap last october thinking i would have it done in a week or 2, now i have been lazy and busy with work but it finally runs. a concrete floor would have made me more willing to work on it but its definatley a bigger project than i thought. can it be done-yes. but i should have waitied cause i just cound a 88 with 99 drivetrain, interior, doors etc for $4200, and its lifted with 33s......... ps, i also went from a 2wd, 4 cylinder to 4x4 4.0 so maybe that was a bit more work.
  2. now thats a vented rotor :rotfl2:
  3. does it go to anything or have another line running to it? very odd, i put around 3 gallons of gas in the tank when i tried starting it a few weeks ago, and have only let it run for a little. lastnight when i plugged a vaccum line into that little black line it ran then died, tried unplugging the CPS, blew some air into the black line incase it was a valve that got sucked closed, reveresed a few other lines, checked spark plug connections, kept turning over then stumbling then died, got mad and thought of lighting it on fire. after all that i dumped another gallon of gas in and it fired right up lol if i hadnt of plugged that line in, i probably would have checked fuel first lol edit: re-read your post and that answered my question. the first pic is just a 90* elbow, but i get that it goes intake manifold to black elbow, cruise control, to vaccum cannister on the bumper, thanks. looks like i need some more fittings and maybe a little more line now
  4. ok thanks, did you have that little black line above the AC lines?
  5. ouch, i got a 18 mph over ticket last october, tried differing it, got a lawer, ended up paying 275 for the ticket, 250 for the lawyer and 25 for court fee's (lawyer sucked). find out in september how bad the new rate will be lol i had DBs on my xj and loved the articulation, 2 weeks ago ordered some for the mj, still waiting for them to arrive. what brand you going with? i went rocky-road again
  6. ok so ive been doing a 96 HO swap into the mj. motor in and all that good stuff. one it got fuel, fired up just fine. i still have open vaccum lines/connections missing. thought i kept and labeled everything but wasnt ggod enough. once i hooked the master cylinder up it somewhat struggles starting- 1st time will just turn over, turn off then back on and it fires right up..... my main questions are does anybody have a 96 cherokee that they can take a few helper pictures for me? where the AC lines go into the fire wall i have a black line that I'm unsure of where it goes. i plugged it into a line i had coming from the intake manufold and it ran then stumbled and died. now its unplugged but the truck can't idle or run? here's a pic i connected this to this. apparentley it doest go to this, so I'm also curiouse to what goes to the line on the intake manifold. this is a vaccum line that i had on the motor and connected to "AC" vaccum line to intake. i believe it goes off of the cruise control..... but after that I'm lost. i also have the cannister that is on the passanger side of the bumper, yet the end of this line is too small to fit on there.
  7. looks good, and the V8 badge behind the door is a subtle touch..... even if is is false advertising lol
  8. their cheap. a bit heavier tho. i got my soft 8's for $45 a wheel new. my next set of wheels is definatley going to be a lighter set just in an attempt to help performance
  9. recycle them all and get a different set, or steel wheels
  10. not my tast in cars but i can appreciate the work they put into the detail Holy big rotor
  11. i forget when, but like 92-93 ( i think) the axles got rid of that problematic CAD system and also got a little stronger ujoints. in my 88 xj a branch took the vaccum line off when i was out playing, then another time the diaphram filled up with mud, both leaving me in 2wd. there is a cable engagment kit you can buy but its around $200 and is somtimes a pain to get it set just right. also some lock the 4x4 in place but if its a daily driver id assume thats a no-go
  12. gotta love that rust :wrench:
  13. there are ways of getting around having to do emissions, atleast in wa.
  14. drilled holes in the floor to mount my transfercase linkage, then it started raining so here i am on the computer
  15. i had 2.5" exhaust on my xj with the flowmaster 50 series. to me it had a very tinny (tin) sound, once i put the banks header on it definatley made it louder and growl deeper. the header opened up quite a bit more low-mid power. my next choice of muffler is going to be a magnaflow though. they seem to be a mellow idle and a nice low growl without being obnoxious when you really get on it. i have no experince with other headers, but i assume that they will all make you exhaust louder due to the better flow, as I'm sure you know. edit: seems like you stated your going with an oem 2.5" in/out mufler, my bad
  16. bump....
  17. nicely done  its the small victories that count
  18. XJ's are a dime a dozen, the mj on the other hand isnt quite so plentyful. looks good
  19. get a commuter and don't worry what the toys get for mpg. went from 10-15 mpg in my xj to 27-34 mpg in my GLI :jump:
  20. continued labeling pigtail for HO/renix harness with some online help from boilermaker
  21. thanks again. I'm going to be on the lookout for a paper copy 96 fsm. this looking thru it on the computer is a pain. and my xj didnt have power locks so maybe the ground was for that. like you said hard to tell. guess ill find out after i mock up the pig trail, emptey the fuel tank and try cutting/rotating/welding the xj fuel pump/sender bracket. a long ways to go still but the info/research you did is greatley appreciated.
  22. awesome your the man  i have c204 labeled now. other than not having pwr door locks the only thing that I'm missing is pin #4- ground. that pin is empty? i checked the 95 fsm c204 pinouts to yours and 95 is different than 96. so my fsm is usless to me. i went on to all data and tried finding the pinouts for c203. this is what i found 1996 C203 female pinouts 1. A241 14DG/RD A=batt. feed 2. L60 18TN/DG L=exterior lighting 3. L90 18DB/RD exterior lighting 4. G4 20DB G=monitoring circuts 5. L10 20BR/LG exterior lighting 6. L61 18LG exterior lighting 7. G9 20GY/BK monitoring circuts 8. C15 12BK/RD C=climate controls 9. L34 18LG/BK exterior lighting 10. V20 18BK/YL V=speed control,washer/wiper 11. L50 18WT/TN exterior lighting 12. P2 18BK/WT i don't have 13. P34 18PK/BK i don't have 14. G4 18DB/WT monitoring circuts 15. K4 18BK/LB K=power control module 16. N/A so for an example pin #1 A241 14DG/RD A=batt feed 241 =part of main circut, unknown 14=wire size DG/RD=wire color/tracer color this online pdf is kinda hard to navigate, but do you think you could point me in the right direction of where to find out where the "241" on such number definitions are located or what they mean? ive tried looking thru the introduction section but am having no such luck.
  23. thank you. now another question or 2. did you follow thoes wires thru the harness or are the descritions of them on the plug in the FSM and i missed it? the other question is- is your 96' FSM a pdf format? ive been on the greater lakes website and they have 95 not 96 and it would probably be helpful when i go to do the other connector.
  24. how come on the black connector there are 2 pin #7 that have different colors/functions, is that because i can have either wire color? also, i searched thru a 95 FSM i(i have a 96 tho) and came up with the gray/black connectors being called c203/204, yet it only has the wire size and color. can i look somewhere else to find the functions? i just want to be positive that i do it right the first time and i have no experince in wiring. I'm hoping you won't say that you traced each wire to it location the figured out what it did :help:
