  9. no, last few times i saw it, it was on the side of the road, today it was in his yard behind a fence. he said it was an 85', but now I'm thinking he could of bought it in 85' as an 86' model? i will go back and check again one of these days and take of pic of something that claims a date. sorry to disappoint you rob  :D edit: went and double checked with the guy, he put in for it to be built nov. 85 and got it jan. 86, so its an 86. thought i found something cool, and no i didnt get the vin the top of the page starts out with 86', but the bottom production #'s start as 85'??? http://www.comanchemj.1hwy.com/photo6.html
  10. i went browsing the comanches in my area today and found one owner outside. gave the old man a card and asked a little about his truck. he is the orignal owner of his 1985 SWB 4wd 2.5 mj. looked a little hesitant to be talking to a young buck that just pulled up to his house so i didnt bother asking to get the vin. he sadi he wasnt sure if they were made in 84' or not
  11. for the big boy nuts/bolts kroils the key ;) i didnt measure the stud but the nut was 4 3/16" and had to use a hytorq to get them up to 10,500 ft lbs
  12. grainger has it, and you can also get it in a gallon can then pour it in a spray bottle so theres no waste from the can losing pressure.
  13. dedicated trail rig? thinkin the lockright upfront may make steering somewhat of a challange on the street. I'm curiouse to how it handles when its on the road
  14. holy flashpoint!!! 27C is somewhere around 56 Farienheight. ill have to try finding that stuff, i like the idea of dry moly lube it leaves
  15. i just put a 96 4.0 in my 89 mj, i thought the same thing but i was trying to put the 4.0 mounts 2 bolts back further than they were supose to go. once i had the mounts in the right spot it fell right in. did you grab the tranny x member with the tcase you bought? i had to chase/tap the holes with a 10x1.50 tap. you also said you grabbed the motor but nothing about the harness? 2.5, 4.0 harnesses are different. hope that helped a little edit: this is the diy forum, next time try posting in the tech
  16. well I'm bored and wanted to express my opnion about penetrating oils WD40- water displacement, crappy pen. oil but has its place for squeaky hinges, removing stickers, somewhat temporaily inhibiting rust, lube while stoning burrs on races etc. i found an old can a while back claiming to use benzene as an ingrident. cancer causing carcogenic- bad crap. then what seems to be the fav on this site is pb blaster. they bought a case of this for us at one job and we threw it away. its a fraction of the cost of the good stuff and you get what you pay for. the label tests its efficeny by spraying some into a styrofoam cup and watch it melt. is the styrofoam made with rust and hundreds of pounds of torque built in?? :hmm: then at the bottom in the fine print states melts cups fast but worthless as a penetrant. if they were trying to compare themselves to other brands they forgot the important word "others" are worthless as a penetrant. now for the good stuff. Aero Kroil, or kroil. everything needs prep time and this is no different. to works its best it needs to be sprayed on and allowed to penetrate a day or to in advance, but at work you rarely have that much notice so spray it on, go to lunch and when you come back its gone as far as it can go in the time alloted. i love this stuff and the label says nothing about spraying into a cup to see it melt. it goes on and claims if given the proper time it can kreep down to one millionth of an ince and free up that stuck bolt, and no this isnt some cheap as seen on tv product like that pb crap :shake: and for thoes really stubborn bolt/nuts, a little indian trick i learned is if you can get away with heating it up (175-200 degrees or so) glowing red is not needed, rub a candle around it, and just like soddering copper tubing, the wax gets sucked right into the threads, and with very little effort will spin right off. :wrench:
  17. :rotfl2: a tall speed bump could wipe that thing out lol some people's children....
  18. x2 :agree: broke the rustys trackbar mount on my zj that had no drop. for a quick fix i put my IRO 2" dropped trackbar mount on. in the city is fine, its a white knuckle drive on the fwy and i pretty much refuse to take in on there now. results and testicle size may vary
  19. seeing as my 96 master/booster has that aluminium spacer, and I'm using my 96 dash/pedals i should be able to get away with using the current rod in the booster correct? this did kinda turn into a tech thing, sorry
  20. did you make that crossmember? came out nice, like the removeable center section. running the soft lines thru a washer on the spring perches is geniouse  does the hard line keep the soft line from "retracting-moving twoards the wheel) or is there an insert threaded into the washer that both hard/soft lines run thru? edit:  it started me on pg 6, and if i read i woulda seen that it was clayton. how does dropping the tranny go with a tranny skid and t-case skid welded to the center dropout section?? looks like no place to put a jack and support it
  21. Sorry about that Cody4359. I agree with you 100%. It was my attempt at sarcastic humor that didnt come out right. right over my head :dunce: i take the :thwak: back :D
  22. theres a guy a few blocks from me that has 2 of thoes FC's. id love one, let alone 2
