  1. Upgraded the breather to have a GM style PCV and replaced the air filter. I did this same PCV mod on my first Comanche and it completely fixed the oily filter issue.
  2. So cool. A lot of work for if I remember is 85hp? That said, quite a few trucks of the time had similar power in base trim.
  3. Looks like a lot of different Jeeps represented in this one.
  4. I have a friend that likes to do this. I put together the entire dashboard on his Suzuki Samurai with hardware scattered amongst the footwell and other random spots of the barn. He has the motivation to take things apart but not always put them back together.
  5. I'd recommend utilizing Oxgard on connections like the ballast resistor. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Gardner-Bender-1-oz-Ox-Gard-Anti-Oxidant-Compound/4514334 It helps seal out moisture to prevent corrosion and is electrically conductive. I would not use it on the c101 as the electrical conductivity could easily bridge connections between wires that shouldn't be connected. Did you retention the pins on the C101?
  6. This is a very satisfying build to read about, nicely done!
  7. This is a great looking driver. How do you like the ride on those shocks? I'm looking for something softer in the front than the Ranchos I chose.
  8. Are sure the difference is a step function and not a percentage difference from zero to highway speed? The fast you go the larger the error will be if the speedo gear is wrong for the diff ratio and tire size. Are your tires actually 29inches or are they bigger than claimed?
  9. If they had built a two door gladiator with the Pentastar V6 and a manual, I would have purchased one instead of my Comanche. I would envision it sitting on the 4 door Wrangler chassis with about a 6 foot bed. I've drive a two door Wrangler, manual from this generation and it was excellent. Smooth and a little rocket with the near 300 HP engine.
  10. I had a spark plug silicone boot get a hole burned through it on my project car. Instead of getting a new boot I took a small chunk of string trimmer line and a lighter and melted it into the hole. It worked and doesn't appear to arc to the head through the hole anymore.
  11. Good stuff! I hope you get the clutch sorted too! I did an external slave conversion and love just how much better it works. Though I will say the clutch pedal is much heavier compared to the internal slave.
  12. By hard starting, are you saying that it doesn't start or is taking more cranking than it has in the past? I see you have an HO 4.0L so that I'm a bit less familiar with. I'd be inclined to think that a sensor like the crank position sensor is more likely to be an issue. If you are suspicious of vacuum leaks, make sure the intake/exhaust manifold bolts are tight.
  13. I replaced mine with cheap doorman mirrors, they vibrate but at least they can be adjusted. I tried giving my original metal ones away on this forum for someone to rebuild but there were no takers.
  14. Awesome fun project! Like a giant puzzle that someone else took apart.
  15. Or converting from manual mirrors to remote mirrors with the little manual joystick?
  16. This is awesome! I'd love to find a set of grey bucket seats in that condition for mine as my grey seats, particularly the drivers one is in sad shape. The junk yards around me don't have anything much older than 20 years.
  17. Changed my engine mounts today, they had definitely met removal criteria. Original mounts from 1989! The new mounts were factory style replacements and they are awesome! So much smoother. Most noticeable though is that it shifts into gears so much nicer!
  18. Cool stuff. So this separates the range and the high low?
  19. Looking awesome. I like the idea of a center dome light.
  20. I work for a company that makes adhesives. One day I was looking for a glue to adhere the mirror glass onto the plastic frame of the side view mirror. My friends in the adhesive division gave me a urethane based adhesive and some Silane to use as a primer. It worked great, much better than the two other epoxies I tried, both of which only lasted a year. There is some serious magic in adhesives, and when bonding difficult to bond items, surface prep is key.
  21. Thanks! The Comanche has been quite reliable since I got the cooling system sorted.
  22. Well, I've usually had great luck with the Permatex mirror adhesive, except for in my Comanche. The glue worked excellently, but a week after gluing it back on it fell off and pulled a chunk of the windshield glass with it. Chose to get a new windshield and the installer put the new mirror on so I am not sure what adhesive they utilized.
  23. It's fairly simple but one has to be careful of not bending it and kinking the backing. The easiest way is to remove the A pillar and B pillar trim as well as the trim above the doors. I did it with only loosening the A and B pillar trim but needed the assistance of a second person. There is a piece of Velcro near the center back of the headliner to help keep it in place there, the front is basic held in with the sun visors and sun visor clips. The other trim holds it in on the sides.
  24. I learned what a Sundog is today. Also had the Comanche in the perfect place to get it in the middle of it.
  25. Managed to catch a picture of the Comanche in the middle of a sundog. Also random other view
