Yes. You just need the 4 wheel drive version of your trans, transfer case and the front axle that matches the gear ratio of the rear. Or you can upgrade to the AX5 5 speed with 4 wheel drive.

Which brand antifreeze is colored red?
eaglescout526 replied to KANTANKRUS's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Wouldn't we use only green in our MJ's? Not just because age but just because that was the only coolant that existed for automobiles. Can we even run any of the other colors? -
Blessing in disguise?

Well you can remove the shifter one of two ways. One under the dust boot is a retainer you push down on and twist in I think counter clockwise direction. The other is to just unbolt the four bolts that hold the shifter in place without fighting that retainer while laying or barely sitting up under the truck.

Actually yes. But the threads were screwed up when I got her. Who ever did front end work screwed up the alignment on the steering wheel and broke the original cam canceller horn spring and just shoved the wheel back on straight without straightening the whole steering. So someone messed the threads up before me. I was solving an age old problem that existed before my ownership. Course I don't understand how you mess threads up. Screw off bolt, pull off steering wheel, replace steering wheel, tighten down bolt. I doubt it was my grandfather but my dad always say "Who knows what your grandfather did to that truck".

I saw this video when it came out. It was pretty neat.

Ok problem solved. I bought a large diameter dap and dye set and took one of the replacement steering wheel nuts and matched it and then cut the threads to match the nut. Now I no longer have a wibbly wobbly steering wheel. Sorry that is not your fix adjustable steering guys.

Going to the Junkyard Today, have some questions
eaglescout526 replied to CODriver's topic in The Pub
1. 84-90 front end. 91-96 is a bit different but still bolts up. 2. 2.5L power steering, trans and t case unless you swap in a 4.0. 3. Anything past the doors is Comanche specific and Renix stuff is becoming harder and harder to find. Some interior pieces are Comanche specific too. -
87 Comanche sport truck

Huh. Knowledge gained. Could’ve sworn Chrysler would’ve changed the spline output at some point for the 2.5L. -
I've had some people ask about LR and I've had two XJ owners appreciate her. Jeep wave is dead here. 97-01 XJ owners don't care. YJ owners shrug. TJ owners just daily and modern Jeep people are just ignorant. Had one butthead come up to the door and ask if I'm selling her. Had another one ask the same at a gas station. Both were Hispanic wanting a work truck. Funny note. Had a guy come in for a radiator fan for his BU renegade and he said he regrets buying the turd. I told him its because it isn't a real Jeep and he agreed.

Good luck and have fun.

Wouldn't hurt to knock and ask especially if your truck is present. I will admit when I first read the title my thoughts went immediately to Paul McCartney's "Let 'Em In"
-
Snag the VIN and we can find out what all shes got. No its not weird. When I was in WA recently my girlfriend told me about an MJ Laredo and I sure as hell went right up to the door and met a sweet old lady who had that truck since new that her husband bought for her and has had it since.

XJ doner of the same year between 87-90 is the best. Later years I believe the spline count changed with the 2.5L like it did with the 4.0L -

2.5L were paired with 4wd. No it won’t hurt gas mileage. Some vehicles gas benefitted from being in 4wd. But the trick is finding a 4wd trans and T-case. YJs can be had but it’s easier and direct bolt in to do XJs and MJs -
Thank you gentlemen. Hopefully I won’t have any distractions this afternoon so I can resume sanding. Now I do have a problem with the tailgate. It does work and all that but the bedside is dented inward. My original one, the inside is in great shape. I’m thinking about cutting that and welding the better shape back side into the old one. Yay or neigh?

Another 2.5L! Awesome and welcome. Post your VIN up in the registry and I’ll get you a build date and sheet. Welcome to the addiction. Take good care of that 2.5L and it will last you a lifetime. -

Tell ya the truth. It’s just under a pop up with a tarp on the side. For what it is it still comes out really good. As far as what is being used, I know it’s professional grade stuff from Sherwin Williams.

Well. She isn’t done yet. But damn does it feel weird to drive her and actually have a good looking paint job on the front. Yes I was allowed to drive her today, put all the front back together last night. Will continue sanding everything else. I will admit, it has its issues but for being done at home by someone who has done such for years all the while still recovering from a stroke is pretty impressive. I can’t argue as it is being done for the cost of myself doing all the sanding and stuff. For whatever reason she gives off a 50’s vibe. Maybe when I get the running boards back on that will go back to being the 80’s vibe.

Why I don't let people touch my stuff.
eaglescout526 replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That’s not right. Any tires I have done I do them through my work at the dealer. -
Well the oil I can easily order from a depot. The coolant will have to be ordered from another dealer.
