Supposedly dealers can modify build sheets. don't quote me on that. I only say such because my boss said he had his 2019 Ram build sheet modified to reflect his tow mirror addition.

amc 2.5 dies on startup

Yup, as Pete said, theres the PDFs. Now the 88 one that we all reference here is a little different from the 86 set up but not by much. What I mean by checking the circuit means breaking it up into sections and checking for resistance and making sure you get complete 12v at the fuel sending unit. -

amc 2.5 dies on startup
eaglescout526 replied to mj_lover69's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Fuel pump circuit extends from the relay under the relay center cover to the fuel pump. I would mostly check for resistance/voltage drop in this case. Theres a 25 page epic of helping another member and his 86 2.5L. Course it was the fuel injector but we helped him check the entire fuel pump circuit to ensure it the fuel pump was getting voltage. -

86 2.5L is a fun different animal. I do recommend checking the fuel pump circuit, as with the CPS just in case and cruisers ground cleaning tips in case they haven’t been done in ever. -
I just found a visor with one of those. Fun fact: Those are SJ only stickers oddly enough. But I would suspect that some dealerships felt that they should put them in XJs and MJs which is nice of them to do but not all did that.

Sounds like we will be checking the fuel pump circuit. Also year helps tremendously due to the differences between the 86 set up and 87-90 -
Just the metal strap piece or the whole assembly?

Decoding the engine number
eaglescout526 replied to Chukkklez's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
1986(6) May(05) 2.5L TBI(H) 12th day(12) On the 2.5L there should be one or two more letters by the distributor, they will say what in the engine is to size like M above is Crankshaft Main bearing journals are .010" undersize. -
If you know of a reputable dealer that has been around since the time of the MJ, you might end up with someone competent enough to bleed the system the factory way. Same as JMO, I work at a dealer as well and only a few of the techs remember the MJ and the AMC|Jeep days. And they are quickly retiring.

Interior colors/paint
eaglescout526 replied to eaglescout526's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I have tried landau black with great results. If anything that’s one of the few colors that is exact vs the others that I have listed that “come close” but are satisfactory. I have even used the landau black on outside parts and pieces and they have held up in the AZ sun and heat. But I want to say that the landau is like a semi gloss -
Christine. Gone in 60 seconds. Me I prefer the Nick cage only because I’ve watch the original and it’s just a really long chase.

2.5L Idle Speed-up Jumper harness

Yes. It will work with both transmissions. -
Oooo wheels is a good idea.

Body side moldings

He is on here as @CoastChief. He also has a quite a few other things in mind that will be reproduced like the AMC|Jeep mud flaps. -
For those of us who have them/recently acquired them: Here are the bulletin pages for your reading leisure to see if you have this present issue: BODY CODE LEGEND MJ - COMANCHE XJ - CHEROKEE YJ - WRANGLER SYMPTOM/CONDITION Some 1987-1989 Jeep vehicles equipped with the 2.5L engine may exhibit a vibration at low idle speed. This condition will be most noticeable once the engine has reached its normal operating temperature. This vibration condition can be improved be installing an idle speed jumper harness in the ECU circuit. This will increase the idle RPM be changing the idle mode signal to the ECU DIAGNOSIS Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature. Connect a tachometer to the engine ignition. Set the parking brake and place the transmission in neutral. Start the engine and verify that the engine is at the idle and above a minimum of 750 RPM. Using the accelerator, raise the engine idle to 950 RPM. If the vibration complaint is now satisfied, then proceed with the following repair procedure. If the initial idle speed is below 750 RPM or the vibration complaint is not satisfied at 950 RPM, the cause must be determined prior to performing this repair procedure. Determine the cause by performing a vehicle test with the DRB II or the MS 1700 Tester, and by visual inspection of components, such as vacuum hoses and connections, powertrain mounting and exhaust system. PARTS REQUIRED Idle Speed Harness 1987-89 2.5L Wrangler PN 56002-101 1987-89 2.5L Cherokee, PN 83100-070 Wagoneer, Comanche REPAIR PROCEDURES 1. Locate the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) Harness Connector (A) under hood. The connector can be found on the right wheel well near the fuel pump and B+ latch relays on Cherokee, Wagoneer and Comanche models, and between the battery and charcoal canister on Wrangler models. NOTE: FOR THE WRANGLER, THE CONNECTOR (A) WILL BE A 4 TERMINAL CONNECTOR (FIGURE 1). THE CONNECTOR (A) FOR THE CHEROKEE, WAGONEER AND COMANCHE WILL BE A 6 TERMINAL CONNECTOR (FIGURE 2). 2. Disconnect the EEC Connector and install the idle speed jumper harness (B) between the EEC harness connector. Figure 3 shows the Wrangler with idle jumper harness installed. Figure 4 shows the Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Comanche with idle jumper harness installed. 3. Recheck the idle speed using a tachometer and verify that it is 950± 50 RPM 4. Remove the tachometer. NOTE : THE IDLE SPEED JUMPER HARNESS HAS THE SAME EFFECT ON VEHCILES EQUIPPED WITH OR WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING. THE JUMPER HARNESS CAUSES AN INCREASE IN IDLE SPEED BY SENDING A STEP-UP SIGNAL TO THE ECU THAT SIMULATES FULL-TIME SIMULATES FULL TIME AIR CONDITIONING OPERATION. THE LOW IDLE SPEED JUMPER HARNESS SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE EEC HARNESS PRIOR TO TESTING THE VEHCILE WITH THE DRB II OR THE MS 1700 TESTER TO PREVENT INVALID TESTS. These plug in to the ECU harness over by the relay center on the passenger side of the MJ or XJ.

Leer topper. I have the same one. Its probably for a Dakota from the same time as the MJ.

Better than not having a front set honestly.

Totally counts!!
