Sounds like you have the wire that turns on the lamps to a stock radio in the wrong spot. Most modern radios don’t need that wire so it’s probably backfeeding power into the wire.

When I installed my AC a couple years ago, that switch was a male end into the dryer. Both J3741260 and 04773763 have a male thread and prongs. Either you have the wrong dryer or the old one broke in a weird fashion. Is there any part numbers or numbers of any kind on your old switch?

I’ve seen one for the 2.5L. I can not speak for the 4.0

Both electric manual and FSM have testing procedures for cruise control. 8/10 times it’s the control box. The other 2/10 is things that rarely fail or a vac leak.

Pretty much what 87 said. A test light can do quite a bit but something that it can’t do is trigger the solenoid to engage which makes it challenging if you need to test the solenoid. Do you have factory installed parts, your own from a donor or one of my kits?
