  1. Have you done any of the grounds? Cleaning the grounds isnt restricted to us Renix guys, even HO guys should consider making sure their grounds are clean. Behind the drivers side taillamp is the ground for the fuel pump and lamps. The ground for the instrument cluster is on the bottom side of the dash and for whatever reason the dashes bare metal gets rusty just from moisture in the air.
  2. Ive got a few more books I need to add to this list.
  3. That would make sense for the Valeo ink stamp on the back of one of the old reflectors. Neat info right there. Shame there aren’t any parts out there for these lights.
  4. Nope. Renix TBI. I’m more familiar with it and to me it is simple upgrade without changing much.
  5. Nope! Chunk has the Marchals and I’m gonna stay true to what he got. Except the engine management. Girlfriend even convinced me to keep the vinyl floor.
  6. Next is to fix the Marchals. I have a few ideas and bought a couple pieces but don’t want to give away a possible match that was probably a sub division of Marchal.
  7. Been doing alot here and there. I finally won the battle of the pool pump. Had my friend/roommate clean the impeller and had the other friend/roommate get a new sight lid O-ring and that system has been running like a champ at a solid 30psi. Also hung the SJ fender on my garage wall and I love it. Still working things out but stuff from my parents house as slowly making it over and I am slowly doing stuff. Solar panels are being installed on the roof and I am converting all the fluorescents to LEDs.

    ouch...

Jeez Pete nightmare fuel much? Glad you’re doing ok though!
  15. To be fair there’s not much chrome left on them. I mean one had more than the other but I haven’t seen anything abnormal going on. But do we even know if those lamp manufactures used chrome plating for the reflectors? I’m genuinely curious if that’s what is used.
  16. Says the retiree, ironically hahaha.
  17. I ran one of the ROLs reflectors through a vinegar bath and I even watered the solution down to help save it, like I said they were in bad shape at the bottom so I wasn’t expecting anything great. They came out fine aside from the massive pitting that vinegar creates. But it will without a doubt take off the chrome and it made them the perfect primer grey for any paint application. Now I will have to report back on the electrolysis when they finish up and see if that takes off the chrome or not.
  18. I think it is a chrome plating. One of the reflectors for my Marchals for chunk is horribly degraded in a way where the reflective material is coming off in chunks. Currently running them through electrolysis to hope for the best on them. Fun fact, Jeeps weren’t the only ones with Marchals. Fords and GMs of the same time could also have them.
  19. I think I asked this a while back when I had a set. Now I’m trying to restore some Marchals. You should be able to get away with repairing and restoring them. Someone in here recommended some sort of reflective chrome like spray paint for the reflector.
  20. Nice!
  21. Dana/Spicer is the way to go for axle and drive train related parts.
  22. I mean when you got a few different types of people who sell things. those who just want it gone those who don’t know what they have and just want it to go to a good home and then you start getting into those who know what they have.
  23. Given that the TJ is also going up in value, that’s probably a steal for some folk on your side of the country if it’s a clean rust free TJ.
  24. I think that’s when everyone realized that the quality and quantity of modern crap looking Jeeps have really shown the poor imagination and style that Jeep once had.
