  1. I miss my first one... I don't miss the second one. I like the 3rd one so far but would sell it for a '91 maybe.
  2. While I am not sure if I would recommend it now, when I was in college I used a 1-1/2" square tube bolted to the bumper brackets and then bolted the flat tow bar to that. Worked in a pinch and never had a problem with it. However... I second Pete on this... Flat towed a crap S15 2.8L 2 hours with a Iron-Duke S15... Pretty sure there is still crap in my pants from that one.
  3. I am kicking myself for selling off my jeep parts hoard when I sold the last comanche... Wouldn't mind a coin but $82 (current bid) can buy so many other jeep parts.
  4. What did the windshield run you? Considering having mine done.
  5. That thing is clean!
  6. That is interesting =P I need to pull my factory stuff off as the mice got to it and its screwed up. Maybe I will spray paint some cardboard and put it up there!
  7. Mine is no looker. Still looks bad from 20ft away... But I don't have body damage and it runs =P
  8. Thats uh... Not looking so hot.
  9. Everything? Van: A/C Clutch, Struts, TREs, and front brakes all need to be done. Jeep: Way way too much $#!& to even list. Needs rear main done ASAP before I can daily it. Right now its a drywall hauler. House: The MJ may be in better shape...
  10. Same... Although I will have a set of so so ones for sale at some point. Given the price I paid for them I better sell them off before the repops come out =P
  11. Notice how there are 21 Comanches in that commercial? What if Shell has the yellow one buried in a shed somewhere?
  12. I emailed Shell to see if they will share anything with me. I do work directly with them from time to time but I am sure that the departments I work with are no where near marketing =P Would be cool to see if we can identify one!
  13. Old Magazine Add on Ebay So Pennzoil supposedly gave away 20 yellow 1988 Sportrucks? Does anyone know of one that is still around? Would be cool to get the spec sheets on it.

    Oil question

What J35 car does your wife drive =P I have been thinking about going to 5w30 in my Odyssey for a bit. Last Odyssey went out at 275k with a ring failure.

    Oil question

Arguably... Although, ZDDP is not the end all of wear reduction. https://saemobilus.sae.org/content/2004-01-2986 Many modern additives limit the metals content of their additives to increase catalyst life. However, their wear performance still is pretty good. There are several threads on Bob is the Oil Guy on used oil analysis of the 4.0 with different oils. I am honestly considering running 5w30 conventional in mine as I live in a warm climate. No synthetics or high detergent oils until I change out my rear main, oil pan, and valve cover seals... Leaking so fast it changes itself...

    Oil question

Wasn't saying it, was just making sure anyone reading this understood that =P With that being said I just checked and the last thing I put in my van was Magnatec. So I must have made this decision before =P

    Oil question

Ahh... Oil... =P So, as you probably already know, the oils from a specific manufacturer are usually some refined base stock of a given weight. Generally speaking these base stocks are "equivalent" across brands (they have to meet specific API grade requirements). The additive packages are what makes them different. Oil companies spend millions of dollars running tests to tweak very specific things to change the oil performance. A very large portion of that tweaking is targeting fuel economy, reduced emissions, and stability. The costs of the additives change the cost of the oil, however, the price difference between the two may be just because they spent more money in research on Edge. The best oil is the oil that has the right additive package for your specific application. However, unless you are really pushing your vehicle, any modern oil that matches the manufacturers recommended weight and type is more than sufficient (when changed regularly). Oils marketed for racing or heavy applications often have viscosity modifiers and more heavy metals to reduce engine wear. The down-side of those are that they typically do not perform as well with emissions equipment as the heavy metals poison catalysts more quickly. On diesel engines with DPFs a lower sulfated ash percentage means that you may be able to go longer between ash cleaning intervals. A fuel economy targeted oil will also have viscosity modifiers but may not contain the same level of heavy metals. Unfortunately, the only "free" information we get is what is in the MSDS for the oil. Otherwise you need to have an analysis done of both new and old and also know what the presence of certain stuff means etc etc. https://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/FusionPDS.nsf/Files/3923E29F69D029A480257B190058E0A0/%24File/CBAY-8K5DW3_0.pdf I could go on for at least another 4 paragraphs but I won't. Both oils are good for your use I am sure. If it was me I would go with the Magnatec just because it is cheaper. And FYI Synthetic-Blend is like 85% regular oil. If you buy syn-blend you might as well buy standard oil instead and change it based on standard oil change intervals (3-5k miles).

I regret selling my first one... I do not regret selling the second one... Pretty sure I would regret selling the current one.
  19. Vice grips... Duh. Screw driver would be dumb because every yard I have ever been to I have managed to find a screw driver =P
  20. My old 89 had this problem and it was a wire that got chafed at the clutch linkage. I ran it with a seperate switch for 6 months before I figured it out.
  21. In college I had a cherry bomb (longest one I could find) on my old Comanche. I thought it sounded great and it wasn't any louder than the rest of the uncarpeted truck at highway speeds.
  22. I have no idea what my other 2 brands are. One set I grabbed at a pawn shop after going to all of the local pawn shops after my jack and jack stands got stolen (yes I was looking for my stolen stuff...). That set has been painted over so I will never know what they are. The other set is some parts store set, don't even remember the brand. Not even sure if I need the 3rd set tbh. The only time I use 4 is when rotating tires, and I only used all 6 when an ElCo sat in my driveway on stands for a year... Courtesy of an old roomate...
  23. Thinking about the OTC set although I already have 2 other sets... maybe just hold off until I find a reason to need 3 sets. The HFs were my go to ones though, just because they were the newest.
  24. What does everyone recommend for replacement?
  25. Hopefully the replacements are the same cost as these ones. And this boys is why you always leave the jack under it or throw the wheel you took off under the frame. Just an added extra measure.
