Picked this up about 2 weeks ago. It is a 1991 4.0/AX-15/2WD with a bad D35 axle. Plan is to make it an acceptable driver and probably hang on to this one.

I would say 30% load right side up. Everything else not so much.

@The86manche on his Orvis ZJ thread.

Its Chrome on Android that is the biggest issue but even if I load them to my PC and use Chrome or Edge it still messes up (Unless I edit the photo). I know at least one other person is having issues with it.

I am not sure how the forum software works as I have never done any administration with it. However, with Mediawiki (the only online software I have administered) a stop gap to the problem was to install an add-in for picture editing that allowed users to rotate images before insertion. It was still annoying but less so. Is that a possibility?
-
I honestly have the same problem with a wiki I created at work. It has been doing it for years now and as I no longer am allowed/access to administer that server I can't troubleshoot it (not complaining as I am an engineer and not an IT guy but I could have probably fixed it by now). It is just an exceedingly annoying bug =P
-
It does it in all orientations. Only screws up on the forum. When loaded to PC before edit they are still upright, on the phone they are upright.
-
It seems since the newest update, any new picture I take with my phone gets inverted when I try to post it. To fix this problem I have to "edit" the photo on my PC by rotating it all the way around and then the forum will take it in the correct orientation. Any ideas?

Is the early Eliminator package signicantly more desirable or do you just prefer it over the later one? Interestingly, my very early 1991 has the old style eliminator striping but with the eliminator lettering at the back of the bed.

Interesting. I ended up buying the team cherokee rears to see if they work. They were cheap enough that if they don't I am not out much. If they do work I will make a write-up or something. Still interested in an OE front one for 84-96 if anyone has one kicking around.
-
Do you have the part number by chance?
-
This one is staying relatively stock =P With that being said I can fix the existing hinge its just going to have to be drilled out and sleeved and holes filled with weld as the PO of the PO of the PO or whoever kinda knackered it.
-
The welded on side at least. Hell if you are scraping a jeep I would pay for the drivers side hinge area completely cut out.

Lucky or stupid? I have 2... -
I can't give you a solid number on its value but with 3.07s its worth a fair bit less than 3.55s or higher.
-
Gearing? Regardless if it is a Comanche or Cherokee D44 someone will want it. The Trac-Loc from my understanding isn't super special but can be a decent LSD when friction material is not worn out. It will definitely command more than the 2x 8.25 3.55s I just bought for my truck (100 for one and 150 for another). 3.55s or higher will demand more money.
-
I mean for $120 you have a drivetrain. Sounds like a steal for me as a donor but getting it driving again might be a bit rough.
-
You should be able to use a non factory style crimp to save on the expensive tool. OR check ebay for the tool.

I lost the photo on my phone in front of Red's Comanche but y'all, these pictures do not do that XJ justice... That thing is damn near spotless. -
Crimping is definitely better. Just thinking if there might be an alternative.
-
Hmm... I wonder if you could solder them on instead of crimping them to avoid the high cost of the tool? Like plumbing solder, I don't think you could get it hot enough with an iron.

Holy rust batman... Where did you find this? The bottom of the Dead Sea?
-
That is very true. Its a shame they aren't still around
