I am sure it probably isn't which is why they haven't done it. I think the issue is that the jeep nameplate has been passed around a fair bit and no owner feels any loyalty to vehicles sold/designed by previous owners.

Nice Wheels! -
I have been working at home about 70% of the time and its okay. I'm so happy my work crew hasn't gotten it. My boss was out from January to April with neck cancer. He came back way too early and the anxiety of him getting it was rough on the crew. He started putting some weight back on but I am sure it would still be pretty rough on him.

Vans!!!! Yeah I like this guy.

Are those bed rails factory or aftermarket?

Quick weigh in on electronics... Modern engine electronics are absurdly reliable, Cab electronics are unnecessary for a work truck and I agree with the farmers on that. HOWEVER, unlike the 1990s and 2000s where OBD2 was required and most diagnostics were covered under the OBD2 umbrella and universal scan tools, manufacturers are figuring out how to put those diagnostics back behind a "Pay Wall" and requiring specific scan tools and subscription software that is not available to consumers. Much like the OBD1 systems from the 80s and 90s. Until the market demands better from the manufacturers (likely through regulation) the situation is only going to get worse.

For reference (search users =P): Experts may correct me... Harnesses are the same (or at least compatible) for Auto and Manual 1987-1988 4.0 harness are compatible with each other and compatible with 89-90 with a C101 connector delete. 1989-1990 4.0 harness are compatible with each other and may be compatible with 87-88 but you will not have a C101 connector anymore 1991-1992 4.0 harness are only compatible with 1991-1995? Cherokees and 1991/92 Comanches.

It will work but you will need to jump 2 pins on that plug (can't remember the exact two but they are right next to each other). However, my 1989 had serious mouse damage on the engine harness, I pulled it out, degreased it, rehabbed it, and retaped the harness in a weekend. That is another option. Edit: Hey look 200 posts =P

Interior is... Present =P I have a new set of carpet for it and I will probably swap my slightly less terrible drivers seat from the 89. Dash is the worst I have ever seen. 4wd swap? Maybe someday but not high priority. I am going to drop a 8.25 in the back of it to get it moving again but I think I am going to build a 29-spline 8.25 with LSD and 3.55 gears in the long term. The red comanche will get the black comanche's eliminator wheels and newish BFG tires.

This is pumpkin work only. I would be doing the axle shaft bearings and seals. -

I have a press (air over hydraulic because I am lazy =P). I also have a newish dial indicator that I have used like 2 times. Its not so much that I am worried about not having the tools or ability, its that if I spend almost 1k on on the rebuild parts and LSD I don't want to end up with a pile of scrap metal after a year. In any case, the axle I am picking up is a 27-spline. I am still buying it as it will get my new truck on the road, but I am thinking about trying to find an 29 w/3.55 (should be easy) to actually do a rebuild on. -

Another question. If I buy a 29 spline LSD and new axle shafts will that replace the 27 spline carrier? -
Differential Rebuild Cost
Torq_Shep replied to Torq_Shep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I was thinking about $400 if I am bringing them a bare axle without the shafts and brakes (leave everything else alone). I don't think that 700 even included paint... -

With me supplying high quality parts and LSD -
I am going to have an 8.25 rebuilt and probably add a helical gear style LSD to drop in the 1991 Comanche. Just called a shop and asked what the rebuild labor would be with a LSD install and the quoted price was around $700. Any idea what is reasonable for this? That seems kind of high.

I mean it did an 8 hour tow at 200lbs under its tow rating (Comanche = 3k lbs, Trailer 300 lbs, tow rating 3500 lbs). Granted I have a trans cooler on it. All while hauling me and Pete's 2wd transmission in the back of the van. No problems except when one of the slowly deflating front tires on the comanche allowed one of the straps to pop loose on a large bump. Really super excellent vehicles for utility use. Plus I actually do have friends that sometimes ride in the back =P No kids thank god...

Looking for a non-clutch type limited slip used or new for a Chrysler 8.25. If you have one and want to part with it let me know the price in PM!
-
Dude that van is the most baller daily driver I have ever owned! Good fuel economy, very comfy, it can kinda tow, and I can load it to the gills with crap.
-
Should someone start a "Price of shipping" thread or section in the for sale section? I know I have little bits and pieces that someone may want that aren't worth any more than their value in shipping. However, because they are often times still difficult to find it may be worth shipping them out to someone.

San Antonio here and I agree!
-
Well I am at basically max capacity of the driveways at this point. Might be able to squeeze one more vehicle on to the back one but there is currently 7 here...
-
Long shot but if you have a good one within reasonable distance to San Antonio I may be interested. Have a line on a cheap donor for 3.55 axles and if I have the axles might as well swap to 4x4... With that being said. If I bought the donor it has a good AW4 but questionable NP231 so I may be able to trade someone auto for manual and find myself another NP231 if/when I buy that jeep from a friend.

My 1994 2Dr Cherokee 4wd 31" tires AX-15 got 13-15mpg before I sold it in 2012 1989 2WD Comanche 215-70-15 tires AX-15 4.0L 3.55 gears got 18-21 before I sold it in 2015 1989 2WD Comanche 235-75-15 AW4 4.0L gets 13-14mpg mostly city. However, I am sure this one needs a tune-up
-
Well it wasn't exactly planned. I wasn't looking for one per se... =P Couldn't pass up a running 1991 in better condition than mine.
