The "Grandpa Jeep" as some friends say...
Torq_Shep replied to rtferguson_39's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Sounds like my truck... 2WD till the day it dies or gets sold if I ever do that to myself. Definitely just a weekend hauler. -
Thats a great garage! I have a 24x24 and I don't think I can ever go back to smaller than that.

What is MTV? =P

I did this... 8 cameras, 14 ethernet ports. What a PITA.
-
POE = Power-Over-Ethernet which IMHO is superior to regular wired cameras. You just run an ethernet wire to each camera. NVR = Network Video Recorder. With POE cameras you have to have a POE network switch, which in most systems is built into a DVR (digital video recorder) Anran = Some crappy chinese camera company Amcrest = Some other camera company NVRs do have the ability to record on motion trigger or record all of the time, most of them can also text you recorded clips, etc. My 8 camera 2TB system records 1 week of video on all cameras.
-
I have wired POE cameras from Anran. The cameras are great, the NVR is garbage. We use Amcrest at work and it is a lot better. With that being said I havent had any more thefts from my yard since the cameras went up.

This is one of those "the longer you look" ones.

Thats sick! but not a Pennzoil truck. It is not 4x4. Unfortunately, Pennzoil has not responded to 2 emails now...

Loose red wire is likely to go to an underhood light that yours is missing.

I have had this one for 3 months... So far one offer at a gas station with no price, and a note on my windshield with a number.

I think it actually reads "Tripped down to chassis" =P

Not sure if there is anything on the Dually's? LR2 thread if that exists I have no idea where.

See if you can get one of these? I need to buy one also as mine is pretty trashed (looked like yours, cleaned it up, new pump, and it is currently working but no fuel gauge).

I think it is great that we have a special place to document the Street Comanches as they are a rare breed. However, because they are so rare it is rather unpopulated. Would it make sense to expand it to documenting the other weird Comanches? I am thinking: Anything Comanche RV related Dually Comanches (unless these are solely enthusiast built?) LSR-2 Pennzoil trucks (if I ever get a hold of someone over there) Move Thunderchief pictures thread Reference this thread

If you find out any more information on the extended cab ones (or can get us more pictures) that would be AWESOME. They are an oddity =P

A Carb'd bike will always be a carb'd bike unless you are extremely handy and knowledgeable with DIY engine controls. Also for reference. My 1976 got about 26 in the city, 30ish on the highway with 45hp. My 2006 FZ6 gets 38ish city 45ish highway with 98HP. If you are looking at the sub $2000 you can get a higher mileage sport tourer or cruiser with FI but you will need to hunt. -Yamaha FZ6 -Honda VFR800 -Suzuki SV650 -Suzuki Vstrom -Suzuki Boulevard C50 -Etc... Another good option for someone not well versed in bikes is the 300 class "sport" bikes. They are cheap, fuel efficient, slightly less back breaking than a true sport bike, etc. They will have been abused used but you can probably find a 14 or 15 model in your price range. Plenty fast for the freeway. Not trying to steer you in any particular direction. I have had 5 bikes and there are reasons I have gotten rid of ones that I otherwise liked driving =P

I had a 1976 CB550 and a 1983 Nighthawk 650. IMHO. The quad carbs on modern gas was kind of a pain if you did not drive it pretty much every single day. They can't really sit very long without having issues with the carbs. Even my single carb Suzuki SP600 (predecessor to DR650) gave me issues from time to time, it was just easier to clean.I really like my fuel injected FZ600 but even that is having fueling issues at the moment (pretty sure fuel pump went, haven't had time to investigate). The Sabre isn't really a special bike, it does have some upgrades to the 70s stuff (read electronic ignition), but still has all of the old bike issues. The question is what are looking to do? Commute? Tinker? Weekend warrior? Do you value reliability or cool factor more?

Lucky Bastard that is so COOL!

Torq's method... Is it cheap? Yes! Is it rusty? Not really. Does it run? Who cares! SOLD In all honesty. It is worth what someone would pay for it. If your truck was a 1991, the front fenders were not cut, and it was local/I actually had money and was in the market, I would pay 12k assuming everything Minuit pointed out is accurate. However, that is based solely on what I would want in a truck. Market price varies wildly by location and build specs. Your truck is stock-ish which MOST buyers would want, Manual/shortbed seems to be in higher demand (assuming AX-15), 4WD is higher demand (even though I specifically wanted a 2WD), paint and bodywork looks good in pictures but I would have to check for runs or orange peel IRL. My advice... Don't sell it and don't worry about the value of it until you are really sure you want to sell it (which you will likely regret). Have your "I would sell for this much no questions asked price" in the back of your mind if you get stopped at a gas station with an offer. But otherwise don't think about it. BTW if anyone wants to buy my truck for 4500 it's always for sale =P

I have owned both. Yes the HO is nicer as the electronics are quite a bit better. Other than that, virtually no difference in "feel" when driving them. If you really want that extra 13HP you can swap to an HO head, exhaust, and better injectors and you will be right about there.

Seguin? Texas? I have seen 5 in San Antonio in 5 years. 2 of them I have owned, one was a friend, and 2 at my workplace.
-
If you want a busted one just to see if you think you can reproduce it I will send you the one I pulled off my truck for cost of shipping. Otherwise I will be swapping mine out fairly soon and will have a set of 2 complete ones in fair condition for fairly cheap.
