  1. I never used the power-comfort switch until the other day while driving into town. When I switched to comfort a soft pillow popped from the head rest behind my neck, two hands came out of no where and began giving me a massage and a hot toddy appeared in the cup holder. Only in a Jeep. :rotfl2:
  2. You would think so but not necessarily. One of the reasons bad grounds are so hard to find and diagnose. On the '86 2.8 the tach signal goes direct from the ign coil to the tach. You can unplug the connector at the coil and check the output with another tach or voltmeter. The tach plugs into a PC board behind the instrument panel. Contacts here may be dirty. 70psi oil pressure is not right. According to the resistance reading you have a bad sending unit or the wrong one, one for the idiot light instead of gauge. Also threads may be dirty making for poor contact.
  3. Not so. Or maybe it just depends on the tool. I have used a cordless DeWalt for over 45 minutes and it was still going strong. You can, or at least I can, completely dismember a XJ in less than 15 minutes. 5 minutes if I'm not saving anything. I agree with Eagle. Just get the whole bed. If this is not possible get the cordless saw. Get the shortest blade you can. Jim
  4. I consider it to be an American tradition to produce alcohol illegally and untaxed. :USAflag: :USAflag: :USAflag: You would come up with a point of view I can't argue with.
  5. Get a copy of 'Old Cars". or just do a online search. There's a dozen companies can get you a title, as long as it's not stolen, for fees from $150-$500.
  6. You can go to the corner 7-11 and get a 6 pack for a couple bucks. I guess some folks just like to say 'I did it myself'
  7. OOOPS, Mia Culpa. Hey it's 6 AM and I haven't had my coffee yet. Sorry. Wondering how i missed the first post. :thwak: Jim
  8. Let's see. You posted a question at 10:15. At 10:28 you're getting agitated because nobody has answered yet. 13 minutes. C'mon fella. Get real. People don't sit at their 'puters 24-7 waiting to jump on questions. Yes you have a problem and it's aggravating but but don't get unreasonable about it. OK? If you had a Haynes repair manual you would find the information you need on page 4-2. i. your going to need a fuel pressure gauge. Don't have one? Most parts stores have one to loan. 2. Could be a clogged fuel filter. They're easy to check. Just because a filters new doesn't mean it's good. 3. The number your looking for is around 40PSI. 4. based on given info I think the regulator could be the culprit. Could also be faulty injectors. You will find this forum has some of the most knowledgeable people around and are more than willing to share their knowledge and experience, but jeez guy. Be reasonable. Jim
  9. Take a look at the old. If it's cracked, dry, brittle then replace it. If there's no cracks and it's flexible then it's OK to reuse.
  10. Just advances the timing. Has nothing to do with fuel.

    Another one

Actually it's only 12. Had 13 and gave one away. This one runs good but since there is no title i can't put it on the road. I only count running, road worthy ones. So 12.

    Another one

Found me a '89 MJ, 6 cylinder, auto, bed is cherry, as is tail lights. Dent in passenger door, driver door glass missing. Has the column shift. No title so it's going to be a parts truck.
  13. I once pulled a XJ 50 miles on a tow dolly with a MJ 2.5, 5speed. It was a case of had to, not wanted to. Lack of power was very noticeable, Lack of brakes was really noticeable. Stayed off the interstate using frontage, back roads and stayed under a self imposed speed limit of 45mph. Wouldn't do it again.
  14. When swapping tachs, in case of a mismatch, the difference will be 20%, Not 300%, A 4 cylinder tach in a 6 cyl will read high. A 6cyl tach in a 4 cyl will read low. On a cold morning oil pressure can read 70PSI but should drop to normal as engine warms up. OP sending unit resistance 0 PSI = 1ohm 40 PSI= 46 ohms 80 PSI= 87 ohms
  15. A good quality winch is reasonably water resistant. The only way I would consider a hydraulic winch would be if the truck already had a hydraulic system installed.
  16. Are you going to be using a hydraulic pump driven by a electric motor, or one driven by the Jeep motor? If your going to be using a engine driven pump then hydraulic is better. If your going to be using a electric driven pump then why bother with hydraulic. Just get a electric winch. With a electric winch if you get stuck and kill the motor generally you have enough juice to get to dry land. With a hydraulic winch dead engine, your dead.Figuretively speaking.
  17. Don't know about back East, but around here a truck like that would go for $1800-$2000 from a dealer and $800 to $1200 from a private seller.
  18. Does anyone know if a '84-'90 Wrangler clutch master cylinder will swap with the '86-'90 MJ-XJ CMC? Quadratech has new, not rebuilt CMC'S for $90. They only list for the YJ and not the XJ but the pics look identical. Also they list the complete assembly, both cylinders and hyd hose for $160.

    local 5-0

Advantage of a small town. All the cops know you. Disadvantage of a small town. All the cops know you.
  20. Not sure on the years but one of the other guys will jump in on that. I'm pretty sure '86 to '89 is a bolt in, and maybe up to '92. They did have tilt columns for Jeep. I have a couple in the yard and I've seen them else where. If you can't find a Jeep look for a GM. That's where Jeep got theres from and they bolt in.
  21. :agree: To everything above. The only way, or reason I would give a gift would be if I had something Scout related, knife, compass, and no one in my family to leave it to, or that would want it.
  22. I would pay an extra $10 to keep from using PP.
  23. Price? and dimensions? Anyhoo,,put me down for one. Jim
  24. I would really appreciate getting the 'COMANCHE" fender badges.
  25. I think the most powerful and heartfelt rendering of the National Anthem i ever heard was by that NYC police officer who gained fame when he told Obama to kiss his Irish @$$ on national TV Wish I could remember his name. He had a great voice, powerful delivery and just sounded like he meant it.
