  1. It was swapped in by me, for a neighbor a couple months ago. He busted the 4.7 and had the 5.2 layin in the garage. He'd still be driving it if he hadn't let his kid drive it. 70mph+45mph curve+4 inches snow=Jim gets a wrecked WJ.
  2. You have enough rigs that you should be able to cover all the combinations, that should keep you busy for a while. OK..I also have a '97 ZJ with 4.0 and 42RE (or RE42) and a '01 WJ with 5.2V8 and 42RE. Got 5 2WD MJ'S. Got the rigs alright. Just not sure I've got the time.
  3. The engines are so well designed and built that there is very little can be done to make more HP. Basic maintenance, plugs, wires, air filter etc will help keep what HP you already have. Never tried it but larger injectors are supposed to be good for a couple extra ponies. For big bucks I'd go turbo charge.
  4. Thinking about it, I have a 1988 XJ with the 4.0 engine and Puke goat tranny. Have a AX15 which would be used instead. Also have a 1998 XJ with the 4.0 engine and and the AW4 tranny. Which one of these swaps would be preferred? By preferred I mean which would be of most interest to the forum? :wrench:
  5. are you volunteering? :brows: it will be in the DIY forum though. Don't have anything going on and got a '88 2wd MJ with non running 2.5 and a '88XJ 4wd with the 4.0L with 30K on rebuilt Jasper. Think I'll just do it. :wrench:
  6. i AHGREE WON HUNNERT PERSENT> :shake:
  7. OH? Really? :D
  8. It'l buff out.
  9. All MJ_XJ drive train parts are identical with the exception of the rear axle. The axle assembly is the same but the mounting is different. The XJ springs mount on top of the housing and the MJ mounts under the housing. They can be swapped by changing the perches.
  10. Standard auto construction is generally frame-body construction. The frame is one complete assembly and the body is another complete assembly. They are attached to each other using bolts and duct tape. Unibody is when the pieces are welded together forming one single solid piece. Also the wheel bases are different length. Yes, it could be done. That is why we have cutting torches, sawzalls and welders. But frankly I wouldn't see any point to it. Just get the body style you want and go with it.
  11. A good, positive mental attitude can do wonders to helping a body cope. Don't sweat the small stuff. Let your family know you love 'em. Good Luck.

    Yay finally!

I like my clocks just the way they are. I haven't set one back, or forward in 20 years.
  13. :agree: I have a bench under my vise so it can only fall a foot and not hit the floor, or my foot. I either use Singer sewing machine oil, preferred, or 3 in 1 oil. Works great.
  14. Every thing runs in cycles. The smart (rich) knows when to get in and when to get out. Just wondering how that guy feels when he sees the prices now after spending a couple hundred for a set a month ago. Any body remember what the highest price paid was?
  15. Not to hard to do. What will you get if you sell what parts you can and scrap the rest? What will a replacement engine cost? Will you do the labor or pay to have it done? What will it be worth if you fix it? If you decide to fix, then look for a wrecked donor. The motor will still be in it so you can hear run. Sell what you don't need. Around here I can buy a complete wrecked Jeep for what the JY want for just a motor.
  16. That's what my 1/2 one is. Right side. Should I sell it so I have an even number of sets? Or should I get a left hand one? I hate having to make decisions. Think I'll just leave things the way they are. Who's got an aspirin? :thwak:
  17. There's a set of MJ tail lights on EBay for $35, high bid so far. They've been at $35 for the last week. Bidding ends at 3PM PST. I started to bid $40 but already got 13 1/2 sets so kind of hard to justify another.
  18. Bingo!
  19. In 1968 I was living in Hauser, A little cluster of houses North of North Bend Or. When they had a Tsunami warning due to a earthquake S of Alaska. Warned everyone to stay clear of the beaches and low lying areas and be prepared to evacuate. Ten minutes before the wave was scheduled to hit there must have been 100,000 people lined up along the shore line waiting. 20 minutes after it was scheduled, we all decided that it must have been that one wave that came in a couple feet farther than the rest and we all left. So much for warnings.
  20. I would like to see them come out with the J10-Waggy frame and choice of truck cab, or CJ tub body period. Let us put what ever we want for drive train, interior, extras, including factory options on it ourselves.
  21. Wonder how many innocent ants, lizards and horny toads were sacrificed in that brilliant display. Maybe a rattlesnake or 2?
  22. She can purchase anything she needs for what shipping will be. Other wise hire a commercial mover. They charge very reasonable rates for busting your stuff up. Rent a CONEX. Pack it yourself.
  23. The last one I got at the P&P about a month ago was $25, Dent, rust free and handle worked. Image Not Found
  24. I have a '97 ZJ but they are so different from a XJ I'm not sure if I could help or not. If any body knows for sure let us know. If it will work I will take pics and if wanted, you can have the harness for $5 plus shipping.
