JCR front bumper side protection
Oizarod115 replied to james750's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my brother has a winch bumper with side protection and no hoop from them... its NICE. beefy frame brackets that extend back pretty far and brace the mounting bolts for the steering gear box. he did have a fitment issue with it, the left side sticks out further from the right side like someone mis-measured but its not real bad and they offered him the 1-ton steering for half price or shipping the bumper back to have it fixed and he took the steering kit. overall good customer service and would suggest them to anyone. the steering has proved great and has supported the weight of the jeep on more than one occasion ;) -

MAYDAY MAYDAY!!!!!! stupid open system cooling
Oizarod115 replied to martywarner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
a little bit of seepage from a head gasket won't kill you but it should be monitored. just keep an eye on that, as long as its not getting in the engine or the oil you shuold be alright until it starts leaking bad enough to matter. as long as its not dropping the amount in the bottle every day. but you should probably have someone flush it well, and a pressure test isn't a bad idea on the cap and the whole system too. if you feel like doing it yourself you can blow compressed air through the heater core to loosen up stuff or run water through it. -
nice... welcome, don't mind me i'm young, immature, tasteless, and broke... i'll stick to the keystone 30 packs... 13.49 for 30 beers $$$ we generally don't help with issues, just bull$#!& around the real topics  so don't ask me nuffin after we get to drinkin! anyways though... someone hook this man up with a set of taillights!!! sheesh. what motor and options and such... 6cyl? 4wd? shortbed? d44 maybe? anything cool?

Rear Main Seal Repair gone bad
Oizarod115 replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well glad its all good. but for all you guys (cough PETE cough cough) that have had RMSs whip your @$$... thats kinda "what these do" any 2 piece rear main is a junk design... ask any dodge truck owner... they don't always take on the first try, i did my mom's twice, i did one a few months ago on a 4.0 and he hasn't been back so i'm assuming it's good. my buddy's took 2 tries... my boss has had several come back over the years. its just a bad design... it takes about the same amount of time on a lift with a transmission jack to pull the tranny and do a 1-piece and it won't come back for a free one later. -
Input wanted, new bearings or new block?
Oizarod115 replied to ironhead03's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i have a 97 tj motor in my truck, all the accessories, intake, power steering, exhaust, sensors and all swapped right over. you don't have to change the head. (or i've got problems i don't know about ;) ) the only thing is the temp sensor from the back of the head has to be put somewhere else or killed altogether because the 97 doesn't have it. mine was adapted into the thermostat housing. -
i don't know if it was your thread or not... but i just told another person to put in a new temp-sender. the little one at the back of the head that has a wire that just pushes on it. chances are its bad/causing faulty readings... and it's far cheaper than hoses/radiators/waterpumps.

Cooling system issue/questions
Oizarod115 replied to bobweiser's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
start with a thermostat, flush (like you said) and a temp-sender. the one for the back of the head with the wire that just pokes on. this fixed my problems. my gauge would read 210 (normal running temp) at 160. replaced temp sender and problems are all gone, laser thermometer gets within 10 degrees of the gauge most spots. -
lookin good man, she's a nice example!

replace the tune up parts if they're old, but you probably won't see any fuel mileage out of it... it's just a good idea to keep things running smoothly. i went from 16-19 mpg by replacing a defunct o2 sensor. paid for itself in weeks. buy the dealer piece or a bosch. don't get the hack-n-tap one.

DAMN BUDDY! that tailgate looks SHARP!

you'd get a one piece axle from any cherokee/comanche 91 and newer. in my opinion quit you just need to quit worryin about it. shim the fork over in the axle, replace the u-joints/seals and ride... axleshafts don't break because of old age. they break from abuse, you can break a brand new on if you hammer it right.

Filling coolant in a closed system
Oizarod115 replied to james750's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
next time you do a thermostat drill a small 1/8" or so hole in it and turn that to 12:00 when you put it in. this will help with the filling. then remove small hose from the therm. housing insert funnel and fill until full, replace hose, fill bottle and ride. -
2.32 at the big chains, i'm sure wallyworld and kroger is cheaper than that. :clapping: filled up for 38bucks!
-
agreed. even though ive heard they wear faster, way less trouble main reason they wear faster is because they actually work  drum brakes do very little, but do make a big difference when properly adjusted... but they NEVER wear out. it takes like 90-100k disk brakes in the rear should last 40-50ish depending on how you drive and what you drive.
-
...thats awesome. i want one. :dunce:  :huh???: :clapping:

i'm liking it! but the phpbb emblem has to go... thats how i got back to the index in the olden days! now i can't get back to the index as easily :( but overall I'm diggin it! oh yeah, and i pulled the old bench seat out of storage back into the pub, but the suggestion to not sit on it still applies... and i think i saw the couch somewhere? mini-fridge is in the truck i just gotta unload it somewhere.

Oizarod115 replied to 90eliminator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
generally they leak around the windshield and rear window... mine does both on and off depending on how its parked and how bad it rains and whatnot.
