  1. wow, that does seem cheap on that 91 piece auto kit in a metal box
  2. i just finished typing what i did today so i'll just link you! http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17821
  3. got to tinker on my truck today a little, (slow day) got the intermediate pipe off and after some figuring and getting really filthy decided that a 55$ shipped walker direct fit piece was the way to go rather than half-arsed converting the old renix pipe. also looked at the fuel lines, i have some off a 95HO that i'm going to run to the fuel rail because the renix ones are entirely different, think i'm going to go back and get some more of the HO lines further back so i can splice them in with compression fittings along the frame-rail then still have the clips like an HO so they can be removed without major surgery in the future. havent spliced the wiring for the throttle body yet, but i got all the wires labeled and ready to go, put on the HO style throttle cable and attached it, works great. same exact pedal assembly so no swapping required just two hands! hung the P/S pump on it and discovered i don't have the 3 bolts that attach it to the intake so i need to get those, and i need to re-work the renix style P/S return line because the newer one fights with my lower rad. hose. but i got the pressure hose in and snugged up, and the bracket for the PS pump on there, bolts right on! i'll have to figure out what length belt i need for it at some point. lots of work but i'm SURE it'll be worth it! (at least it won't stink anymore cause it's getting a fresh converter to replace my empty one!)
  4. i love the look of that bumper plain... that said, i scrolled down and i LOVE the look of the two combined!! great thinking! make it happen man!
  5. we only install interstate at my work and in the 2 years i've been there we've warrantied one battery, and it was dead on our shelf so it must've been really broke! i have an optima in my jeep and love it though i had it warrantied twice before i got a good one. (first one made sizzling noises!!! so i took it back as its a non venting battery it shouldn't sizzle. second one tested bad after only 3 months.) i have seen them do well before and this one i have now does well running winches and everything else
  6. assuming everythings good its worth 500 but maybe you can question it and knock it down to 3-400 from the pics it doesn't look like it was a hard enough hit to crack the case and i'd say the transmission is good for sure but you never know, weird stuff happens during wrecks. good luck whatever you decide! that'd be a good donor.
  7. haven't had much time to work on this project because we've picked up at work, but hopefully we'll have a slow day soon! i hit the junkyard today and picked up a late-model throttle cable and bracket (just H.O. stuff) and apparently it attaches to the fuel pedal the same way and uses the same hole in the firewall so thats one more hurtle jumped! all i gotta do is bolt it together splice some wires and convert my head-pipe to fit on the 91-99 style exhaust and we'll be good. and i'll make sure to take some pictures and post all the info so that you Renix guys like me can convert if you want to!

    DIY writeup?

are you guys running mozilla firefox or IE? try switching browsers. :typing:
  9. actually super-charged/turbo cars do do slightly better on gas if you can stay out of the fuel. especially on hills and hilly areas. saves you from having to drop out of top gear as much but most times people can't leave it alone and add boost til they have to add more fuel and at that point its sucking fuel like crazy. EDIT: BUT I AGREE THIS IS BULLSHISSTA! a properly set-up turbo car might get better mileage but non eof this crap "# Increased Horsepower (Kilowatts for my non US friends) # Increased Fuel Mileage # Better Vehicle Handling # Extends Engine Life # Low cost Upgrade when " ....??? how in the heck is it going to cause better handling? or increase engine life? hahahah nice find!
  10. come on slacker!?! where's your A and B pillar trim at. GAH you're lazy :clapping: :clapping: NICE swap on that late-model stuff shelbyluvv!
  11. when eagle or someone tells you that the head was redesigned and that the renix ports are different than the HO and later motors... THEY MEAN IT... i'll take pics monday. my truck had a motor swap done on it before i purchased it 3 yrs ago, the original 89 replaced with a 97 but bolted all the 89 accessories and whatnot (intake, ps pump, exhaust manifold, a/c) all of it was 89 stuff... the intake ports were partially blocked by gasket, and the intake was 1/4" blocked off on the bottom by the head, and the fuel injectors were spraying nearly directly into the head instead of into the port. i'm expecting a HUGE improvement in the way the truck runs, replacing the intake with a 2000 and HO throttle body and stuff, replacing the exhaust with a 95(ish) factory style header. wish me luck boys!
  12. what the hell is sodium  silicate supposed to do to it? that wasn't ready to die if it ran for 2 minutes at 5k rpm with no oil and apparently not much coolant. poor old girl had plenty of life left in her.
  13. i just paid 70.50$ for one off ebay to my door brand new. don't buy a used one.
  14. there is a bracket that bolts there on an HO it holds the fuel lines out of harms way. (working on an intake swap to late model stuff so i've been all over HOs scavenging parts lately.) also spy the lack of a fuel line at the back of the fuel rail, renix would have one at the back of the motor and one up front after the regulator, HO they both come in the front.
  15. bad-arse!
  16. could you try taking th ebumper off and carrying it to a body shop? maybe they could straighten it... it looks like a nice one from where i'm sitting
  17. if your truck is a -90 check out this website here... http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Engine/Basic_Sensors_Diagnostics.htm and then bookmark it. make sure the arm of the throttle body is moving the arm on the TPS too, it can be installed with the throttle body arm not moving the TPS arm.

    2500?

the fact that its brand new off a showroom floor and 0miles on the odometer!
  19. its not generally used because it's really not a great piece and barely makes more power than the 4.0L :dunno: i'm not a chevy man but the 350 bolts in ALOT easier with aftermarket support, and makes ALOT more power. plus 350 stuff is dirt cheap
  20. unless you're having driveline vibration or noisy u-joints i see no reason that it won't last like it is. you wanna make sure to put new joints in the shaft if you do any major lifts cause they don't like to change angles, but if they're tight and you've got plenty of slip before the shaft comes out of the t-case then just ride man
  21. oldest tricks in the book, but its good to see you know what you're getting into with it before-hand  cool lookin truck man

    Retired?

  23. my truck has a bastard-child manifold set-up. i'm swapping the renix manifolds out for late-model stuff, the motor is from a 97 with 89 stuff bolted to it so we're fixing that. question is, if i put a 91-96 HO style exhaust manifold will it bolt up to my downpipe or can the pipe be modified to fit or just get one from a HO?
  24. We're talking about an INNER boot, right? I already have the outer "bellows" boot. yes, there is a second boot not seen normally the bottom of it is a metal ring shaped like that hole and its just a rubber boot attached to that ring.
  25. IIRC its not outrageous to buy from a dealer... like 20 bucks or something. just tell em you need it for an 01 5spd.
