  1. you just have to ease them into it by slowly growing it back out starting a few months into the job.
  2. i don't know that there is any major differences just try to get one off a similar TBI engine if you have to. the later stuff should still bolt up and work but it might have different bolt holes and such for sensors
  3. don't worry bout it til oil starts running off the rear bumper again :chillin: its probably fine. glad you got it first try man! higher mileage motors (200k and up) usually take 2-3 tries don't ask me how i know this
  4. if theyre really stuck use a prybar GENTLY at one end of the fuel rail and try to work them out one at a time, just be careful to not bust/fold anything. they ought to pull right out. lil lube goes a long ways ;)
  5. hailing from the heart of the heat here... monsoon season this week in atlanta.
  6. 20-50 never hurt anything if its worn out or bleedin, might slow the burn down a little bit. cool truck man
  7. 'pends on what state you're in ;)
  8. thats a sparkle flash 240 man, cool paint job.
  9. when you have to ERRH HERRM.... BORROW, a bulldozer with a paper clip to get un-stuck (that my buddy's XJ and he did the borrowing, not me) my MJ didn't have the tire to pull him out
  10. damn! beat me, when i joined i was 16. 19 now though july 16 1989
  11. take it to the shop and ask them to diagnose and fix the oil leak, that way if it continues leaking... not your problem.. ;) i work at a shop and have had to warranty a RMS on a 4.0 before, they don't always take first try.
  12. :clapping: :clapping: thats the great part... its a MAF car !! unless something is broke BAD it won't run lean because it measures the air coming through and adds fuel for any additional air. the + kit was just a simple earlyearly electronic boost control she's a heavy ol' girl at 2900-3100 but rear wheel drive and i like the understeer oh yeah, and i can't forget the intercooler! its mounted infront of the radiator and slightly larger AND thicker than the rad is.
  13. its rated at 165hp/5100rpm 195lbft/3400rpd boost factory is 10.5 and they offered a turbo+ kit and a ++ kit that upped it to 12.5 and 15 respectively. so i suppose 14-15psi is perfectly acceptable, i want to get a gauge on it and see what it's putting out in real life, the boost gauge doesn't have numbers on it. i could tweak on it but the turbo, engine, manifolds, all of it has 297,000 on it, nothing has ever been rebuilt and it doesn't smoke or anything so for now i'm leaving it be. its a miniature garrett turbo, tb2543 is the garrett number i guess it's a good one since its lasted so long without blowin oil past
  14. my brother went from this to this to current, this i'm down with whatever! like the wheel but agree it needs more love so it'll fit better with the truck, and disc-brakes and upsizing is necessary to fill it up
  15. yeah, i've got pics of a 740 turbo wagon, with a mustang 5.0L and automatic in it, my boss put that one and a 240(2 door one) together like that and the 240 has had 150,000 on it since the swap was done. i'm not out there, just a volvo mechanic that got a sweet deal on my boss's old car and he got a sweet deal on it from the original owner. a 1000 for the car was an absolute steal. its crazy how fun the car is to drive, turbo 2.3L with the 4speed is nice. pulls STRONG in overdrive lay into it and she'll climb til you don't want to go any faster oh and she does a litttle better on fuel but not much, getting 22-23.5 out of her in pretty heavy traffic PICS! Image Not Found first day i bought it Image Not Found couple weeks into it, nothign done yet Image Not Found cut the coils about 1.5" and tinted the windows (20%) Image Not Found sitting in the girly's drive
  16. hardly, but it would be a cool car as a wagon. its a rare one, 1990 740 turbo, 4speed stick with pushbutton overdrive. its a sedan though. i'll have pics up in a minute. NICE car. 297,XXX on the odometer and never missed a single oil change, i have all the service records, picked it up in good running condition with cold a/c and nice michelins for 1000 bucks.
  17. I think i need an intervention. I've been volvo nuts (and busy with a new girl) for a few months now which has led to me being absent! BUT I STILL LOVE THE MANCHE! however due to the daily driver i can now build it and do what it was meant for! :clapping: pics of the volv to come.
  18. right you are about GA being different county to county... thats why the truck is owned by my brother who lives in a smog-test-free county, and the volvo is in my name cause it passes :D although i'm glad we have smog-testing cause it keeps most of the stinkin-old-heaps off the road. (yeah, mine stinks but it's not like a late carbureted firebird or anything lol.)
  19. snellville, ga on the map. bout 4 hours out from savannah but have g-parents there.
  20. i think the pt cruiser turbo is used to swap onto TJs commonly... ?
  21. looks like a beauty!
  22. you don't notice the difference between cv's and u-joints, although they undoubtedly handle the stress of having power at high speeds better than a u-joint will. my buddy has recently converted a 99xj form 2x to 4x with a 242 and a ZJ front axle (CV shafts) and it rides just fine, all wheel drive kicks @$$.
  23. i prefer bosch out of what you have listed. except the platinums are junk in most stuff. but if i can i'd go with OEM parts. DEALER parts. MOPAR parts, less 'comeback' rate. basically, if it has a lifetime warranty... there's a reason.
