Comanche Aficionado (4/11)

  1. looking for some stock rear leafs for super cheap/free. will pay for shipping to 19405
  2. yea i changed my mind. id rather not deal with the welded spiders. and i wanna get this thing dd worthy before i build it for the trail.
  3. found an 8.8 with 4.56's, rockcrusher cover, disc's, and welded spiders.
  4. dana 44, 8.8, or 29 spline 8.25. the more built the better. something with 4.10's or 4.56's and brakes.
  5. whos carter? my names dylan, some call me cooper.
  6. i think I'm gonna do the 97+ front end swap. just a little spoiler alert.
  7. terrible @#$%ng day. today i planned to put the 3.5" clayton springs in up front. took a hour just to get one stock spring out. when i went to loosen the spring compressor the weld on the nut broke. that was exciting. so now I'm stuck with no passenger side spring in, the jeep up on jacks, and no money to go rent a new spring compressor because i had to terminate my credit card because it got stolen. when my dad gets home hopefully he rents it for me and i can get this done by tomoro. update: got to autozone. rented the spring compressor, very nice quality, and got the job done in very little time. pics from the day
  8. new downpipe
  9. yea lol, his asking price was absolutely outrageous. we agreed on 1600, and he delivered from jersey, when he got to my place i told him it needed alot more work then he had originally told me. i gave him 1400 for it, and i still think he got a little much out of the deal.
  10. some of you might remember i had a 2wd comanche a couple years ago. well I'm back, and ive got one thats 4x4!!!! 4.0 6cyl, 4x4, shortbed, dana 35 5spd, the rare black and white buckets, only rust is along the bottom of the doors, and above the rear wheels. none on the floors! Has a 3" "lift" on it.. the guy just stacked spacers in there. needs a downpipe. brakes need to be bled. e-brake needs to be adjusted. needs all the interior pieces put in. here's some pics of day 1. the downpipe needs replacing, so i pulled that out, giant hole, picking up the new one this weekend. also found a set of 3.5" clayton springs ill swap in. gotta find some quick disco's and lca's. floors are por 15'd, just dirty fancy shift knob from my integra :clapping: downpipe carnage
  11. am i aloud to do a pic request?? I'm planning another comanche build, and i wanna do a Low COG build. post up some pics of comanches with 3.5-4" of lift with 33's.
  12. I may be getting another comanche. currently i have an xj with the RE 4.5" kit. will everything up front swap over?
  13. Where do you think they got the axles from? I have a 44 front from the junkyard, I'm also building a rear 44 I got from the junkyard for $60. I'd say almost everyone here uses parts from the junkyard when available. These prices are based on what my yard charges me. HP 30 with 4.10's - $100 8.8 (disc brake) 4.10's and LSD -$100 AX-15 - $200 NP231 - $100 Front and Rear Shafts - $100 M.O.R.E. 8.8 kit and e-brake kit - $325 Have someone do the welding on the 8.8 for you and the rest of the parts are all direct swaps. (more or less on the ax-15) Throw in a few dollars here and there to replace any worn parts. So for less than $1500 you could build a badass Jeep from the junkyard. i hate to admit this, but i honestly can not do the conversion on my own. I'm 17 and know a little more then the basics, and my dad knows most about jeeps, as he has one him self, but he does not trust himself to be able to successfully do this conversion. the parts for the swap i already have figured out price wise, and trust me, there only a little more then the prices you listed, along with some new parts. I WOULD LOVE TO DO THE CONVERSION ON MY OWN WITH MY DAD! but he and i agree that we don't think we can handle it (spacewise also). I'm going to call up some buddys who may have the knowlege and equiptment needed to do it. then possibly ill just buy all the parts of the shop, and we will try and tackle the conversion on our own... quick question. seems like some people on here say i should stick with 4.10 gears? and i would more likely get into trouble on the trails with 4.56 gears? i just want to know what would cause more trouble?
  14. I'm getting an 8.8 re built from the shop, and a dana 30. both locked and regeared. either way if i convert it or sell it, i will be driving something with better axles then something from a junkyard.
  15. i wish we had the equiptment to do the work ourselves! or the time.
