  1. if it isnt comanche specific you need to re-weld the leaf spring perches and shock mounts other than that everything is plug and play pull the axle out, put the axle in, bolt er down and bleed the brakes and hook up the e-brake cables **EDITS** ohh yea, the D44 u bolts are bigger than the D35, i got mine made up but they made them for a D35, u can make it work, its just hard work :P
  2. go for the stock single core, theres a 3 core radiator but people have had alot of over heating issues with it
  3. making it look badass right off the bat  keep it up . :MJ 1: .
  4. heat the carrier up around the roll pin, turn a can of air duster upside down and blast the roll pin, punch that sucker out
  5. Pete, what it sounds like to me given the.symptoms you havr listed, You need more powerful powersupply, If it runs fine when u remove the added PSU, then stops when you add anotherhardharddrive, Its going into undervoltage protection

  8. carpet and interior all put back together! :D new to me hp d30 just waiting on my wheel hub assemblys which i get monday that orange tinge on the diff cover isnt rust, just some random light refraction, under coated the wheel wells :D and my tire blow out!! $20 rollers for summer :P now i am just waiting for my LCA bushings to come in, as well as my adjustable front bds track bar rebuild kit which reminds me, who remembers end of page 1/begining of page 2? turns out, my track bar is correct, its a bds track bar for the front of a mj for 4" of lift http://bds-suspension.com/product-display?sr=124423 what do ya know none of us were correct on what it was!

  14. haha thanks, its not that cold here it was above freezing, and i just moved back from the north, where it got to over -40 and you gotta do what you gotta do tho eh? finished the inside of my floor pans today, before and after :D gotta finish seam sealing the out side, then ill under coat it, pressure wash the carpet and re-install everything, after a good scrub and, here we go again, anothing thing i gotta fix :P
  15. cheapest way to do it i think, because i know school shops usually don't go out of the way and just order a crap ton of parts, would be to go to a wrecking yard, pull the pinion and carrier set, and install into that axle, if you do this remember break the pinion nut torque first, keep the shims for the pinion, there should be a scribed number on the pinion which tells you how much u have to shim it if you need to re-shim if u take apart the carrier... locktite!! and have fun, don't forget LOTS OF PICS and start a build thread thats not in the tech section! :D
  16. Imho 96-99 xj axle shafts are the way to go
  17. in a sense if you were a lead foot on the brake, i down shift and brake :P there is still some metering going on, and it works out well when making a decent out of the mountain tops :P but enough tech need more build stuff :P
  18. yup, i have it zip tied so its in the full load position, removing it can make the rear brakes lock up when not supposed to tho
  19. if you are determined you can do it in under a day, i removed mine and installed it without a jack ( not recomened) , make sure you get a torx e-12 socket, disconect all the lines, take the 8 bolts out plus the sheet metal screws holding the backing plate on the other side, lower the rear to clear the x-member studs and slide er back :P you can do it with the exhaust installed, just makes it harder on the re-install
  20. long time since an update! has been fun, rebuilt my front driveshaft+double cardan joint due to a "binding" sound enjoying the great white north with the comanche in its natural habitats what else is there to do but climb little parking lot snow piles? :D then on the way back home, my tire self destructed, i recovered the truck the next day after hitch hiking to a friends house a few citys away, and getting a spare delivered to me XD and as it sits today, the "binding" was not my drive shaft, it was my axle chewing itself apart, you can see my $20 rollers, no dry rot on these, low tread but hell of alot safer for me and the other people on the road (yes i have a bit of a blow by issue, my fix = a hole in the bottom of my air box :D ) picking up a new to me HP D30 with 3.55 gears on sunday, trucks gonna be smooth rollin from here replacing all the bushings in the front end while the axle is out. the only thing left to rebuild is the engine, one of my jeep buddies is builing a cheaper ( cheap stroker) through his staff account hes getting 6 .030 over pistons for $56 i will be building mine shortly after he finishes his jeep on . :MJ 1: .
  21. i think the utility bed is bad @$$, jack er up, put some big tires on it and ull have a utility trail truck, haul all your parts with ya! :D

  24. put a black wire mesh behind the grille should hide the radiator, and act as a bug guard as well so your radiator fins won't get damaged,
