1989 Comanche High School Project
MancheKid86 replied to WaunakeeComancheCrew's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
cheapest way to do it i think, because i know school shops usually don't go out of the way and just order a crap ton of parts, would be to go to a wrecking yard, pull the pinion and carrier set, and install into that axle, if you do this remember break the pinion nut torque first, keep the shims for the pinion, there should be a scribed number on the pinion which tells you how much u have to shim it if you need to re-shim if u take apart the carrier... locktite!! and have fun, don't forget LOTS OF PICS and start a build thread thats not in the tech section! :D -

My Badass Metric-Ton Comanche Build! (The End)
MancheKid86 replied to MancheKid86's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
yup, i have it zip tied so its in the full load position, removing it can make the rear brakes lock up when not supposed to tho -
if you are determined you can do it in under a day, i removed mine and installed it without a jack ( not recomened) , make sure you get a torx e-12 socket, disconect all the lines, take the 8 bolts out plus the sheet metal screws holding the backing plate on the other side, lower the rear to clear the x-member studs and slide er back :P you can do it with the exhaust installed, just makes it harder on the re-install

My Badass Metric-Ton Comanche Build! (The End)

long time since an update! has been fun, rebuilt my front driveshaft+double cardan joint due to a "binding" sound enjoying the great white north with the comanche in its natural habitats what else is there to do but climb little parking lot snow piles? :D then on the way back home, my tire self destructed, i recovered the truck the next day after hitch hiking to a friends house a few citys away, and getting a spare delivered to me XD and as it sits today, the "binding" was not my drive shaft, it was my axle chewing itself apart, you can see my $20 rollers, no dry rot on these, low tread but hell of alot safer for me and the other people on the road (yes i have a bit of a blow by issue, my fix = a hole in the bottom of my air box :D ) picking up a new to me HP D30 with 3.55 gears on sunday, trucks gonna be smooth rollin from here replacing all the bushings in the front end while the axle is out. the only thing left to rebuild is the engine, one of my jeep buddies is builing a cheaper ( cheap stroker) through his staff account hes getting 6 .030 over pistons for $56 i will be building mine shortly after he finishes his jeep on . :MJ 1: . -
i think the utility bed is bad @$$, jack er up, put some big tires on it and ull have a utility trail truck, haul all your parts with ya! :D

put a black wire mesh behind the grille should hide the radiator, and act as a bug guard as well so your radiator fins won't get damaged, -
Fuel Pump won't Stop Priming
MancheKid86 replied to MancheKid86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs

agreed,, must have pics

sounds like your pilot bearing is wearing a bit on your clutch fingers, it should go away, if you think its your clutch slipping stop on a hill and put it in 1st, if your clutch is strong you won't lurch back, if its slipping youll roll back down so be ready on the brakes I'm not too sure about the reverse issue tho
