I've decided that shop-alignments are overrated on our trucks. a tape measure and a level piece of concrete are all you need to set your toe and align your steering wheel.
86 (which is the one I'm assuming you're referring too) is the exception to any of the gearing rules. almost seems like anything could have been had with anything else. you'd have to check to be sure what's underneath. also, it could have been replaced/upgraded in the last 25 years. I know I would have if I was stuck with 3.55 gears and a 2.5L. :D
a couple corrections.
rules of thumb:
2.5L + 4spd manual = 3.55 gears
2.5L + 5spd manual = 4.10 gears
You still have to move the spring perches on a cherokee axle no matter what you're doing with it. they are more outboard than comanche perches. Do not force it to work with the XJ perch location. you will eat you bushings in short order and then your axle will be off center.
that part of hells revenge is fairly tame (note the stock blazer that was wheeling in front of me). still pretty ballsy to take the Vic out on it though.
haha. :D I stopped buying "dog" toys long ago. I now give her baby toys. 1 buck gets a whole bag of them from the thrift store and they last just as long (meaning not long at all) just gotta separate out the beanies.
for what it's worth, the only advantage that the external has over the internal is: it's easier to fix when it fails. they don't last any longer or are really any more reliable (not including the after market internals, which seem to be hit or miss with early failures. factory parts are the way to go there.)
mid 90s I got a pager. needed a way for my folks to reach me while I was on campus at Wayne State. I could call them from a payphone, but they couldn't reach me.
first phone came in 97 with my first good paying job (and a 3 hours commute).
I want to shift, all day, every day. I want a manual in my DD, my truck, my minivan if I could. I don't care a bit if the auto is easier of better in any particular situation. I still want a clutch pedal.
the MJ bar doesn't have anything better going for it other than it other than it's a factory item. neither will save your bacon in the event of a rollover. if you like the look, then go for it.
depends. every combo seems to be a bit different. you should be able to run them on the street no-problemo, so you can try it and see. a plus side to spacers is that it'll push the rear tires out and make them appear the same track-width as the front tires.
a note on spacers: only get good quality concentric hub spacers. Spidertracs for example.
