  1. all TJs are the same. the bolt pattern change happened with the intro of the new gen wrangler.
  2. I've been told numerous times to never reuse old hardware. guess that's one of the reasons why. :ack:
  3. that part of hells revenge is fairly tame (note the stock blazer that was wheeling in front of me). still pretty ballsy to take the Vic out on it though.
  4. what do you mean by "notches"?
  5. haha. :D I stopped buying "dog" toys long ago. I now give her baby toys. 1 buck gets a whole bag of them from the thrift store and they last just as long (meaning not long at all) just gotta separate out the beanies.
  6. how much do you like your gas pedal?
  7. for what it's worth, the only advantage that the external has over the internal is: it's easier to fix when it fails. they don't last any longer or are really any more reliable (not including the after market internals, which seem to be hit or miss with early failures. factory parts are the way to go there.)
  8. mid 90s I got a pager. needed a way for my folks to reach me while I was on campus at Wayne State. I could call them from a payphone, but they couldn't reach me. first phone came in 97 with my first good paying job (and a 3 hours commute).
  9. I want to shift, all day, every day. I want a manual in my DD, my truck, my minivan if I could. I don't care a bit if the auto is easier of better in any particular situation. I still want a clutch pedal.
  10. the MJ bar doesn't have anything better going for it other than it other than it's a factory item. neither will save your bacon in the event of a rollover. if you like the look, then go for it.
  11. checked for spark?
  12. that's an aftermarket small-truck light bar
  13. depends. every combo seems to be a bit different. you should be able to run them on the street no-problemo, so you can try it and see. a plus side to spacers is that it'll push the rear tires out and make them appear the same track-width as the front tires. a note on spacers: only get good quality concentric hub spacers. Spidertracs for example.
  14. if it were my truck, I would try bleeding, and failing that, replacing the master. but then again, I've been able to drive a truck around with no clutch use what so ever. for every speed/engine rpm there's a sweet spot where the clutch is unnecessary.
  15. sounds like it could be your master is losing pressure internally (i.e. the pressure is escaping past the seal). assuming it's not just an air bubble. is there any change if you biskly pump the clutch peddle a few times?
  16. Because a harder tires flexes (and thus creates heat) less when rolling, which is less energy lost to friction ==> better gas mileage. With gas over $3/gallon every bit helps. i understand that. it's just that my butt counts for something. and performance too. tires aren't designed to be run rock hard. better braking and handling come from the proper pressure. anything I save in gas could be instantly wiped out 10 fold if I skid in the rain or snow.
  17. max pressure is for when the tire is trying to hold up it's maximum weight. somehow I doubt an empty comanche qualifies. why on earth do so many people want their tires rock hard? :dunno:
  18. 25-27 psi
  19. look for 97+ XJs (earlier 8.25s are only slightly better than the 35. 4.10s are found behind 2.5Ls. also, not all had the 8.25. some had the Dana 35). or 95+ explorers (very little rhyme or reason as to which ones had 4.10s far as I can tell. v6 and v8 axles are the same internally so either one will do. 95+ had disks) car-part.com might help in your junkyard searches. the XJ axle will need the least amount of work. the explorer axle is stronger and more plentiful in 4.10 ratio, but will need hubcentric wheel spacers and a U-joint flange for the front. it's a very popular Jeep upgrade.
  20. does anything work? headlights?

nice lookin' truck! if you're going to start a project thread, you should probably put it in the projects forum
  22. yup. overall they are pretty good, but those little things they mixup here and there will cause headaches. but then, even the factory shop manual has issues. I use all three. :wrench:
  23. welcome to the addiction. :waving:
  24. that's a clever idea! Rob, can you write a book yet? "101 uses for your old Jeep tailgate".
  25. part of the goal is cleanup. some of the stickies will be going into it (truck and member pics for example). and I can easily move it later if we want. mostly I'm trying to better organize the more interesting Pub threads so it's easier for members to add to it. for example, it'd be nice to have a thread with all the MJ collections in it. oh wait, we do. buried somewhere. :dunno: stuff like that. I can undo it all if it turns out to be a mess.
