there's a resistor pack located right above the passenger's left foot. comes out with a 7 or 8 mm wrench. check it to see if it's burnt up. :thumbsup:

bone-stock ones work great. :) since the computer sets the timing, the dist is just a conduit for the spark. sounds like the gear teeth might be worn. :(

and if you go with an older SJ dana 44 front, you can pair it with a rear axle from an isuzu rodeo which is a dana 44 with disks and 4.10 or even deeper gears (can't remember what the exact number is)

79 ford axles with factory 4.10s pushing 33s.

are you installing them yourself?

a better question; what do you want to do with your truck when it's finished? daily driver? rock crawler? mud? pavement queen? will it see any highway time? are you looking to upgrade the gears or avoid that cost? willing to cut the fenders? what engine/trans/rear axle combo do you have? welcome to the addiction! :cheers:

HellCreek sells an AAL that does that (essentially an MJ main leaf with the eyes removed). comes with hardware too (clips and center bolts). An XJ main would work and provide no "lift" perse. but if your leafs are sagging, the added carrying capacity might bump it up a small amount from what it is now.

97+ is a thicker seal and should be an upgrade for ya. :thumbsup:

are 4.88s even available for the 8.25?

couple thoughts: -3/16 box steel is pretty difficult to hurt -the greater the difference between metal thicknesses, the greater the challenge in welding them together I'd go 3/16 :thumbsup:

bedside patch panels are the best we get. :( or just go down south or out west and buy up a whole bed from a junkyard. :thumbsup:

I reused my clutch since it was almost new. beyond that, nothing swaps over that I can think of. :dunno: edit: you do have to retain your current CPS. :thumbsup:

just make sure it's not an AX-5. they look kinda similar (and lord knows I can't tell the difference without seeing them next to each other) and are NOT interchangeable. If the XJ had a 4.0, then it's definitely an AX-15. :thumbsup:

I had MJ parts and TJ parts available to me and aren't quite sure which links I used (I think I used all MJ stuff). but the bracket is custom. I saw that two unused bolt holes lines up with the imaginary pivot point and so made my own bracket from a flat piece of steel. :thumbsup:
