  1. if it were my truck, I would try bleeding, and failing that, replacing the master. but then again, I've been able to drive a truck around with no clutch use what so ever. for every speed/engine rpm there's a sweet spot where the clutch is unnecessary.
  2. sounds like it could be your master is losing pressure internally (i.e. the pressure is escaping past the seal). assuming it's not just an air bubble. is there any change if you biskly pump the clutch peddle a few times?
  3. Because a harder tires flexes (and thus creates heat) less when rolling, which is less energy lost to friction ==> better gas mileage. With gas over $3/gallon every bit helps. i understand that. it's just that my butt counts for something. and performance too. tires aren't designed to be run rock hard. better braking and handling come from the proper pressure. anything I save in gas could be instantly wiped out 10 fold if I skid in the rain or snow.
  4. max pressure is for when the tire is trying to hold up it's maximum weight. somehow I doubt an empty comanche qualifies. why on earth do so many people want their tires rock hard? :dunno:
  5. 25-27 psi
  6. look for 97+ XJs (earlier 8.25s are only slightly better than the 35. 4.10s are found behind 2.5Ls. also, not all had the 8.25. some had the Dana 35). or 95+ explorers (very little rhyme or reason as to which ones had 4.10s far as I can tell. v6 and v8 axles are the same internally so either one will do. 95+ had disks) car-part.com might help in your junkyard searches. the XJ axle will need the least amount of work. the explorer axle is stronger and more plentiful in 4.10 ratio, but will need hubcentric wheel spacers and a U-joint flange for the front. it's a very popular Jeep upgrade.
  7. does anything work? headlights?

nice lookin' truck! if you're going to start a project thread, you should probably put it in the projects forum
  9. yup. overall they are pretty good, but those little things they mixup here and there will cause headaches. but then, even the factory shop manual has issues. I use all three. :wrench:
  10. welcome to the addiction. :waving:
  11. that's a clever idea! Rob, can you write a book yet? "101 uses for your old Jeep tailgate".
  12. part of the goal is cleanup. some of the stickies will be going into it (truck and member pics for example). and I can easily move it later if we want. mostly I'm trying to better organize the more interesting Pub threads so it's easier for members to add to it. for example, it'd be nice to have a thread with all the MJ collections in it. oh wait, we do. buried somewhere. :dunno: stuff like that. I can undo it all if it turns out to be a mess.
  13. looks good to me. got a rear bumper on it? got pics of your leafs yet?
  14. had an idea to gather up some of the lost-to-time threads. I'm thinking threads like photo threads, "my jeep nik-naks", etc. threads that newcomers would probably like to add to, if they knew it existed. If anyone comes across one that they think should go in the new forum, bump that thread to the top and I'll then move it over.
  15. just set the dvr for the next showing. :D
  16. I prefer used tires. I always seem to find a good deal with some patience.
  17. might be corrosion inside one of the sockets causing a grounding issue.
  18. I would try bleeding the clutch system then.
  19. then that's gear oil inside. (though technically not all manuals use gear oil. chrysler's latest change in requirements for the ax-15 calls for engine oil: 10w40 I think.) when did you last check the level? when did you last bleed the brake fluid in the clutch line? does it stick in gear all the time, or only with the engine running?
  20. wait a sec... auto or manual?
  21. whatever you do, get one with headrests. otherwise, with even a mild fender bender you'll be cracking the back glass with your noggin'. :ack:
  22. when that happened to me in my 88, it was low on gear oil.
  23. For XJs, a little differnece. for MJs, very little difference. nothing that book would cover anyway.
  24. the only difference between a 91 MJ and a 92 MJ is the 92 will have more drool all over it.
