I agree. I usually leave posts like that in the pub for a few days for exposure and comments, then move them to the classifieds (I'm out of town at the moment, so everything is happening slower than usual). It is so rare to get new products for our trucks that I doubt we'll need a full blown venders area. :cheers:

there was a similar awd t-case offered in 86, but it wasn't a 242. can't remember which number it was. 229 maybe?

not officially, no. though at least one guy claimed someone did a special order for one. my guess is that it was probably installed at the dealership, but who knows. :dunno:

our floors rot because water leaks in from any number of locations (windshield, firewall, door, etc) and gets underneath the carpet/rubber mat. the carpet actually contributes because the water can't evaporate. :(

sounds about right. though I'd take 4.88s in a heartbeat with my 33s. :yes: I run 4.10s only because they were the deepest factory ratio in the axles I was trying to use.

usually that is unnecessary, and in the case of our trucks, can be detrimental. I seem to remember reading that there is a concave surface given to the flywheel and machining removes it. hopefully someone chimes in with the details. personally, I wouldn't unless there is some damage to the steel.

there's a resistor pack located right above the passenger's left foot. comes out with a 7 or 8 mm wrench. check it to see if it's burnt up. :thumbsup:

plan on replacing the pilot bearing too :thumbsup:

bone-stock ones work great. :) since the computer sets the timing, the dist is just a conduit for the spark. sounds like the gear teeth might be worn. :(

and if you go with an older SJ dana 44 front, you can pair it with a rear axle from an isuzu rodeo which is a dana 44 with disks and 4.10 or even deeper gears (can't remember what the exact number is)

79 ford axles with factory 4.10s pushing 33s.

are you installing them yourself?

a better question; what do you want to do with your truck when it's finished? daily driver? rock crawler? mud? pavement queen? will it see any highway time? are you looking to upgrade the gears or avoid that cost? willing to cut the fenders? what engine/trans/rear axle combo do you have? welcome to the addiction! :cheers:
