  1. Just came home from a 200 mile road trip in the Liberty. I does drive nice and on paper it may make more power than ythe old 4.0 in the xj. That being said for comfort I'll take the Libby .......but.......The xj we got rid of would blow the doors off this Liberty. Just my 2 cednts worth.
  2. We traded my wifes 01 sport in on a new 09 liberty in august of that year. The liberty is nicer to drive rides better ect......But....The 4.0 ho in the xj would run circles around the 3.7 in her new liberty and both get about the same mileage. She like the Liberty though no thats good enough for me .
  3. yeah it was you...... no problem....you did pm me.....its just funny how things work out sometimes
  4. Well after driving the truck to work today I pulled it in the shop today after work and checked everything on the front end. Everything looks to be ok. I also rechecked all the rest of the lugs and they were all nice and tight. Obviously the offending wheel has to have worked loose I just have never had this happen to me before after driving that far. (kinda hard on the pride). The good news is that I never did get together with a fellow comanche club member that was wanting to buy my spare factory alloy to match the ones on my truck..... The wheel that I lost doesnt appear to be damaged but no sense taking chances when you have a spare.
  5. Not sure exactly what went wrong. I had one broken wheel stud and the other 4 are fine but lugnuts are long gone. I have never lost a wheel on anything before and really am stumped as to what caused this. I must say the old mj is a real trooper. I had to drive it probably 1 and 1/2 miles on three wheels to find a place where I could get it off the road far enough to safely replace the wheel and tire......can't stop the old girl even on three wheels...lol
  6. We finally got our first real snow of the winter here on Friday night. Got up yesterday and put the old mache through her paces. I had been plowing snow all day and running all over the place with no problems other than what I thought was a front unit bearing that was getting tired. I was on my way back to the house when I watched my left front wheel leave me and cross the road as I continued down the road in a shower of sparks. :fs1: :fs1: What puzzles me is I have been driving this truck daily again since right after christmas. I can't believe if the wheel wasnt tight it would have waited this long to come off. It never shook or shuddered just came off. I can't believe if it was getting that loose I didnt feel it in the wheel. I got up this morning and tore her apart and other than a tweaked fender and a rotor that looks like a stop sign I have to say she took it pretty well.
  7. I decided to go ahead and put together a project thread to see what you guys think of my work truck. My story starts one day when I went to do work on a bobcat for a friend of my dads. I pulled in the driveway and saw what I thought was a cherokee sitting beside the garage. Low and behold what I found was a veru rusty 89 pioneer longbed 4x4 with a 4.0 and a 5 speed. The truck satarted but missed badly and had a bad clunk in the d35 when you tried to drive it. I wound up getting the truck for a case of beer and a filter change on the bobcat and drug her home. (sorry i never thought to get any pics of the old girl as found) Took the truck home and tuned it up but still had a real bad miss. Also pulled the diff cover to find the ring gear was missing about 5 teeth in one spot thus the clunk. At the same time my father in law had given me a 90 furd ranger longbed ext cab 2x4 with a noisy motor and bad trans. I had no interest what so ever in this truck so i wound up pulling the wheels / tires and a few other parts and swapping the rest to a local junkyard for a wrecked 90 xj. I wound up pulling the rearends fuel rail and injectors and a few other pieces from the xj and got the mj running and driving like a top. So at that pint my little mj looked about like this Soa on the rear axle and 3 inch coils up front with 3.55 gears The next on the list was the completely rusted and mangled rear bumper. I wanted something sturdy with a reciever hitch built in.Left the truck with a friend to use a couple days while his truck was in the shop and wound up with this Bumper is a little bigger than i was looking for but he built it for nothing and it has saved the back of the mj a couple times now......Also comes in handy for pushing derby cars and stuck forklifts around at work....lol Thats all I have time for now ....to be continued
  8. I have a problem with my gas guage that i think i figured out....just looking for other opinions.....First the problem my gas guage only reads two readings. Empty and WAY over full. If the truck has any fuel at all in the tank the needle goes past full all the way to horizontal on the guage. As the tank nears empty i noticed the guage will begin to "bounce off that mark as you start and stop and the fuel in the tank sloshes around. After a few miles of this the guage will go instantly to empty and stay there telling me its time to get gas. I have checked the wiring and don't see any problems. I believe the grounds are ok as the lights and fuel pump all work ok. I'm thinking that the sender is on its way out. What do you guys think?
  9. I guess you could say the bright side is that assuming your using the salem hospital for the delivery your only a half hour or so away. That should leave a few minute to stop at daveys jeeps or 4wd hardware along the way...... all joking aside my wife and I had our first ( a daughter) in January of 2011. She also had to have a c section due to a fractured pelvis at the time.....I feel your pain ....lol
  10. a couple better before pics
  11. its actually paint i picked up on the cheap a while back. My local paint store was cleaning out their mistakes for $20.00 a gallon. The color name was two bubbles of plum pearl but it is real close to plum crazy. I spent a total of about 6 hours prepping this thing for paint and it shows up close. Really couldnt justify putting a bunch of time into trying to make it perfect as the bed is really junk. Besides thats snows a comin and shes got to be ready......On a side note i washed my mj yesterday......probably the first time in about 4 years or so....
  12. the plow set up isnt factory....its a newer myers hoop style upper mount. the lower mount was fabbed up by a buddy of mine for me about 5 years ago or so.
  13. Well I finally broke down and showed the old girl a little love. went from this......... to this........
  14. Just a little info for anybody considering painting their truck with the mango tango paint. I wanted to paint my z71 that color when i redid it winter before last. the problem was at that time that paint was insanely expensive to have mixed. If I remember correctly i was quoted right around $900.00 for a gallon of ppg basecoat. That doesnt include ant reducer or the cost of clear coat or hardener. I went back to the color search and wound up going with amber fire pearl coat ( a jeep color by the way :D )... The color isnt quite as bright but I'm happy with it.
  15. I am a mechanic / tear down tech / paint and body tech / electrical tech / reassembly tech for http://halltechservices.com/. Were a small division of a much larger company that specializes in airport equipment repair and maintenance. The shop I'm in does strictly zero time rebuilds on all types of equipment not just airport equipment. I get to tear stuff completely apart then sandblast and paint it. After that it gets put back together all purdy and new and sent back to the customer.
