try spraying a flammable liquid (such as a throttle body cleaner) around carefully. especially get the seam where the intake manifold meets the head. when the liquid gets sucked into a leak, the idle sped will change. you can also do it with an unlit propane torch. :thumbsup:

be mindful of blocking the radiator. I've read about people having cooling issues with the big winch in the way.

how are you checking? propane? starter fluid? or just visual?

cleaned the throttle body and IAC yet? which technique are you using to find leaks? checked for leaks at the vacuum reservoir? in the 4wd lines?

Hey Virginia! :waving: sorry i don't have an answer for ya. it's been years since I've had a door apart. :(

usually (but not always) a bad CPS causes random no-starts or instant-stalls (like you turned the engine off). I would start by cleaning out the throttle body with a toothbrush and some 02-safe throttle body cleaner. it's essentially free, so why not. after that, try spraying that TB cleaner around while the engine is running and look for vacuum leaks, especially around the intake manifold where it bolts to the head. if a leak sucks it in, the idle speed will quickly change. also free. after that I would investigate the TPS. if it's faulty, the computer won't be matching the air coming in with the appropriate amount of fuel. somewhere here is a how-to for checking the TPS with a multimeter, but I usually just throw on a different one from the junkyard and see if anything changes. :D could also be a clogged up cat I guess. or a very weak spark.

and they are all very expensive and require a gear setup procedure to install. :( plenty of people use the cheaper "lunchbox lockers" like the aussie in their daily drivers. just takes a bit of change in your driving style.
