    Noob saying hello

    welcome!
  2. maybe? in theory that should stop the inversion.
  3. Being essentially a ladder system tied into the frame, I intend to continue building off of it for steel flares and such. maybe tie it into the rollbar and the trans crossmember too. maybe even tie them together with a driveshaft loop. the possibilities are endless when you're too poor to do any of it. dreaming and planning are free!
  4. if I remember right it is located right above the passenger's left foot inside the duct work and held in by a pair of 8mm screws. I think there's a writeup on replacing the blower in the link in my signature.
  5. I know more modern rigs have more modern packs, but has anyone created an update for our old Jeeps?
  6. those are the relays, I speak of the resistor panel or resistor pack. it has a harness plugged into it and is inside the duct right above the passenger's feet. iirc, it's held in with a pair of 8mm screws?
  7. the round parts are DOM tube (2"?) and the square rails are 1/4" wall 2x2 square tube. the round tube made it easier to attach to the plates (since I can drill round holes pretty easily) while the square tube made it easier to attach to the supports (since I don't have a notcher and used a grinder to make straight cuts in the ends of the tubes). I did all the fab work except the welding which was done by the same guy that made my rollbar. This made it a bit weird as I had to cut all the holes, then drive an hour to his shop, then drive back home to clean and paint the steel.
  8. what's the condition of the resistor panel?
  9. stock 2wd running monstrous 30" tires. in its defense, it lasted like 5 owners and 180k miles before it blew up. But it still blew up on me one morning on my way to work. My personal rule of thumb with a 35 is leave it alone for stock tires, but upgrade it before getting larger tires or a desired regear.
  10. um, because one random day driving to work my 35 started spitting out ring gear teeth? Although they aren't made of cardboard, they get that "weak" reputation for a reason. The 87 4.0 manual trans is the dreaded Peugeot. If it works fine now, I'd keep it. But I'd also start hunting for an AX-15 for later down the road. There are a ton of threads on transmission swapping in the link in my signature. SOA gives around 6" of lift and that can be quite expensive to match up front which might be why some people choose a smaller lift amount.
  11. Bump to the top plus an update that I was able to find the superduty trailer harness at a yard in colorado. cost me all of 10 bucks.
  12. why do I feel like homer eating his pet lobster when I find an MJ in the junkyard...
  13. be careful about using shorter shackles, as it becomes possible for the shackle to invert after hitting full droop. got any pics?
  14. what! that's totally fixable.
  15. looks fantastic!
  16. yeah, what's the plan for the new one?
  17. perch welding is probably the most basic welding there is. heck, any auto repair or muffler shop will have a welder. getting the perch angle right is key.
  18. door pop? are the doors contacting the fenders?
  19. neat. looks like I made one but only for the later stuff.
  20. nah, that's the new truck. they were both built as red 88 Pioneers with a 2wd/4.0/stick drivetrain, but that particular one will be staying stock.
