    the pic was sent out to newspapers in part of the early ad campaign. somehow I doubt they are the deer whistles you buy at the gas station. my guess is headlight sprayers. I've seen them on other european cars. (sometimes with tiny wipers too!)

    and I mean super-duper stock. Today's example of why originality is kinda nice is that someone asked me where the taillight harness is supposed to run on its way to the back and I can just walk out to my truck and snap a couple photos for him. now I just need to collect a bone-stock example of each and every possible model and drivetrain combination and I'll be all set.

    research is your greatest ally. keep reading. Make sure you can recognize the difference between the 35 (has an oval cover) and 44 (more of a stop sign shape). The link in my sig has a ton of info, with Cruiser's MJ tips near the top. also this thread:

    the link in my sog has threads about the various transmission swaps. the usual hiccup is the pilot bushing but you just need to know which to get.

    that makes sense. I've pulled a couple beds now and it's pretty easy, so I feel I should mention it just in case "perceived difficulty" was the reason.

    ouch. yeah, as much as these engines have an insane reliability reputation, bad things can still happen to 30 year old parts.
