  1. absolutely!
  2. yeah, the other hypothesis was that all early ones sucked and GM made them better later on but Jeep no longer used it.
  3. found it! this is a stretched MJ with 2-door XJ doors (or more likely a 2dr XJ merged with an MJ)
  4. in theory you can use the peugeot crossmember with an AX-15 mount, move it back to the new holes, and use a 1" t-case drop to accommodate the height difference.
  5. this page has a good writeup on it. hopefully the link works. quick summary, very few Jeeps were ever shipped this way because it was expensive and time consuming. and they were never offered to civilians this way. https://www.facebook.com/MudPuppyJeepers/posts/jeeps-in-a-box-for-50-this-is-one-of-the-oldest-urban-legends-out-there-its-been/979649385440306/
  6. well, it certainly would freak me out, because that's more myth these days than anything else. I hate to burst your bubble, but that "kit" was put together by a company (omix ida?). very cool none the less. lemme find a link...
  7. that MJ looks normal (but with late XJ upgrades) there is a stretched MJ out there, but of course now that I want to find it, I can't.
  8. nice! I love it!
  9. we're still trying to find out what "AGC Black Ram 1500 Sport Group" used to mean. sweet lookin' truck though
  10. sweet!
  11. when we confirm it, if someone could update the "bolt size" thread in the link in my signature that'd be awesome.
  12. should be a link to measure a stock truck in the link in my sig.
  13. tech questions should really go in the Tech forum so more eyes will see 'em. been a while since I gave that thought, but 2 sounds about right.
  14. that's one thing I've so far resisted adding to the KJ's collection. maybe once I build a real roof basket I'll run out of reasons to not install mine.
  15. when he's finished I'll move it on over.
  16. I found the shop that shortened mine by typing "4x4 shop" into google maps. found there's a place just a couple miles away that I had no idea existed. it cost me $30 but that doesn't seem to be typical.
  17. stop everything. right now. go back to the store and buy grade 8 cap head bolts. right now. do it. carriage bolts are not made to the same sheer strengths (maybe grade 3?). I would rather have slop in the axle hole, than snap off the bolt head.
  18. short answer: yes. long answer: I don't remember who did it so I'm not of much help in locating the particular thread. it was a few years ago though.
  19. yup, that's what I'm talkin' about!
  20. something in the back of my head says that the 2door are different. you'd want a 4-door front set. (but to be sure you should probably ask in Tech)
  21. allllllmost there!
  22. the hardest parts of the swap are the seatbelt differences and the fact that most MJs with a bench didn't have headrests. Be very picky and get a late model that has headrests. or better yet, the link in my signature has a thread about using the late 90s dakota bench which is way more comfortable. but requires more effort to install
