grit scratches can't. but it hardly matters on a rusty Jeep. it is what it is. so today I hit the junkyard. meaning I drove there all by myself like a big boy. met up with Ryan who did all the ground work and wheelbarrel moving to get that 242 out of the waggy. (huge thanks!!) The drive was... interesting. especially the first few miles as I learned that I need the seat practically all the way back now to keep the leg straight-ish. and I'm now a 2-footer for stop and go traffic. I've got no issue with slamming on the brakes with my right, but keeping that foot on the brake pedal for longer time causes some nasty aches. but I drove there (half-hour) and walked a lot more than I probably should have in the junkyard and got all the way home. so am I ready for a 12 hour excursion north? heck no. any achy-ness that occurs doesn't tend to go away on its own while I'm pinned in the drivers seat. it's going to take a bit longer (assuming there's any more healing I can do on my own) and likely going to need a 2 day adventure north. still, this sure feels like progress we shall see.

I've never looked into new, so I'm of no help there. but the later years of first gen XJ has a vastly superior plastic than the MJ years.

that back and forth that it does up by the door would be a real challenge to get right.

I think RE's design predates RRO as a company. their drop brackets have been around forever it seems. like, they were an option back around when I first got my truck. waaaaaaaaay back when there were 2 options for drops, and RE was one of them. I forget the other. something a bit cheaper. I assume we're all talking about these ones? I see from the install pics, that they now offer a reinforcement bracket for XJs. that's good. they probably have been offering that for years now though, it's not like I've researched drops in a while.

it's possible that studs are in a separate box than all-thread.

hey, do you remember the socket size for the transmission crossmember bolts? I've discovered my knee won't let me get down on the ground in the barn to check my own truck.
