  1. I think RE's design predates RRO as a company. their drop brackets have been around forever it seems. like, they were an option back around when I first got my truck. waaaaaaaaay back when there were 2 options for drops, and RE was one of them. I forget the other. something a bit cheaper. I assume we're all talking about these ones? I see from the install pics, that they now offer a reinforcement bracket for XJs. that's good. they probably have been offering that for years now though, it's not like I've researched drops in a while.
  2. I have. I wonder if it's a patent issue or if they are selling the plans.

    Found!!

  4. 3/8"-16 just found it. my ninja/google skills must be slipping.
  5. what's the diameter thread and pitch? I'm guessing 3/8"?
  6. people are stealing... grade 2 threaded rod? what the hell man...
  7. 17 is a very weird size to need.
  8. I'm just saying, do it right, don't be in a hurry.
  9. it's possible that studs are in a separate box than all-thread.
  10. hey, do you remember the socket size for the transmission crossmember bolts? I've discovered my knee won't let me get down on the ground in the barn to check my own truck.
  11. don't you have an ACE or Aco hardware store nearby? something? anything?!
  12. don't feel bad, the wasps (or hornets or whatever they are) living in the ground aren't pollinators, they are predators. they are a good thing to have (as long as the nest isn't in a bad location), but it's because they hunt other problem insects and such.
  13. now's the time to just order yourself a pair of threaded studs.

    ouch...

I think I've finally figured out how to get into the drivers seat of the Jeep with minimal pain. it involves putting the seat all the way back and pushing off the door with my good leg. there's going to be a lot of shoe marks on that door panel...
  15. nothing wrong with a 2wd.

be sure to start a build thread. I'm sure you'll get tons of comments. this is more for documenting the truck and getting it in the registry. a build thread is more for showing off your truck and sharing the adventure of bringing the beauty back to life. It's got an interesting combo of good stuff and bare bones stuff. reminds me of my old 86. it was very base, but with the bigger engine, AC, metric ton, and 4x4. just start a new thread and copy/paste in your pics
  19. not a concern. the bellhousing will be fine. but trying to thread the nut onto the unthreaded part would be a heck of a challenge.
  20. 5 is acceptable if 8s are unavailable. you can also order them online.
  21. be sure to test it before you convince yourself that's the issue. no firing of the parts cannon just yet!
  22. Just don't let them convince you that the transmission has to be removed. You can do it by dropping the pan.
  23. It can be tricky, but I had never done it before and I was (eventually) successful. should be videos on youtube.
